I bought a Thomson DT16300 Top Up TV Box + Digital TV Recorder from Argos yesterday, the 160GB £99 pound one with 1 months free setanta and Top Up TV

I got it home and set it up, although I didn't plug it into a VCR as I don't have one.
It has scanned through and shows all the channels really well, however I cannot get the recorder to work.

I have checked the setup menus and it tells me that I don't have a Disc Drive present

Do you think there has been a manufacturing fault?

I plan on phoning them later this morning to see what they suggest but was hoping you guys may have some advice first.

The Thomson is riddled with bugs anyway even when you get it working.Get a refund then buy a Humax 9200 more expensive but less hassle.

My Mate Had The Thomson And Had Nothing But Trouble With It, Thats Why I Paid A Bit More And Got The Humax Pvr 9200tb, I Paid £157 From Pc World, They Pricematched Dixons.
take it back to argos and get a refund.

Does your Humax Pvr 9200tb make a lot of noise, Mrs JonnyTheBoy wont let me buy a PVR unless its very quiet, especially in standby.
