Stopping a recording on Humax 9200

Hi,

Just got one of these and it is definitely a step above a VCR. Even my technophobic wife loves it - as she can understand and use it ...

Anyhow, I was trying to stop a recording last night that had already commenced. It was scheduled via the EPG, rather than an instant recording, and I wanted to kill it. However, I couldn't find out how to do it anywhere. If the recording hasn't started then you get the green/red options but these were greyed out as recording had started.

Any clues? I did read the manual but that gave no clues. And I'm on FW 21.

Did you try pressing the Stop button?

Certainly on the Topfield (which is built on the same hardware, and I suspect on some of the same core code) if you're watching live TV and press Stop, it will ask you which recording you want to stop. It you're in timeshift or a playback, the first press will take you to live TV, and then the next one will stop a recording.

Should have said - I tried all that as well. Pressed all the buttons I thought *may* have had a bearing on it ... Just couldn't seem to stop the recording once it had started. The impression I has was that a recording started through the EPG was treated, at least slightly, differently than an 'instand record'.

The Stop button does work while watching TV. What you can't do is stop an in-progress recording from the EPG or any menu. You can't do anything to programmes in the EPG after their start time - including any pre-padding window.

The stop button really does work even with recordings being made via the EPG.

When you press stop a menu appears asking you to confirm that you do want to stop the recording (it details the channel and times). If it's recording two programmes then both are listed (with details) and you are asked which you want to stop.

I did try this - honest ...

And this is what is 'implied' in the manual. But I didn't have any menu appear ....

I'll go away and try again ..... It would be very silly NOT to be able to stop a recording!

This also used to work fine on my two machines. I used to stop a recording occasionally before the end of the three mins autopadding but since the v21 software update there have been a few occasions when the stop confirm menu has not displayed and I have had to let the programme continue on to the finish of the autopadding.

Must be a glitch in the latest SW version.

Mine wont stop either must be v21 bug as i got the stop menu before.

Well, I tried it again last night. This time it worked ... that's with v21 as I said. I guess I'll just accept that sometimes this'll work and sometimes it won't. Unless I had finger trouble before - as if ..... :D

Luckily it isn't usually something that actually needs to be done that often.
