Thomson DTI6300-16 small problem

Hi there

Newbie here - hope i'm in the right place and hope you can help !

My mum has a Thomson DTI6300-16 Freeview box and is currently having problems with the programme library. There is 1 programme that she has recorded (and has now watched) will not delete from the library. Every time she tries to delete this item the system freezes and needs a re-boot. I have tried to clear it myself without any luck. She can simply leave it there I suppose but it is annoying.

Has anyone come accross a similar problem or can anyone offer any advice.

Thanks in advance.

Pete

There should be a way to reformat the Hard Drive. Check the menu. Check the User Guide.

Re: Thomson DTI6300-16 small problem

I had the exact same problem with my 6 month old machine. I had recorded an episode of The Simpsons and selecting it in the program library froze my machine. There is no way to format the machine like a PC so I returned it today for a replacement.

Only problem with this machine is the remote isn't very responsive, ie. takes a few presses of any button to get the desired effect. Had the exact same problem with the machine I just took back for its last couple of days. My firmware version is 2.81.

By the way I've never had more than 70 hours of available space, how can Thomson claim its got 120 hours

EDIT: Left the system on standby while watching 300 (awesome film), it updated to firmware 2.91
The remote still feels unresponsive. The red LED that lights up when you press a button doesn't light up every time, so even simple tasks are frustrating
I will give it a couple of days to fix itself but if it doesn't I'm trading it in for another brand.

Re: Thomson DTI6300-16 small problem

Software up to 2.99 now, and apparently there's a big update due anytime soon.
This box has its problems, but they do seem to be trying to fix them. The only thing mine has done wrong since the update to 2.99 is the jumping back on playback of a recording. No missed recordings, no lockups.
My remote is fine though-Unresponsiveness is not a problem I've come across.

My mates machine has exactly the same problem. A programme which wont delete and it keeps locking up. He bought it from Argos who wont offer refunds on this type of equipment. Whats his next step?

Re: Thomson DTI6300-16 small problem

You need to go to the recording above it then very quickly press down, then blue then green. This will delete the recording. The Thomson is the worst box on the market if you can get a refund or exchange do it and buy a humax around £109 from argos recently.
