Foxsat HDR recorder picture loss when watching bluray when recording

Hi,

I have had a Fox HDR for a few years now and would like to try to solve a problem I have been working round for sometime since I got it.

When I first got this, due to the fact I have my cable set to the TV embedded in the wall, I used a 3 to 1 HDMI splitter to manage the video input to my TV for my humax and bluray. The issue is that when watching a bluray a picture loss will occur when the humax starts to record a programme the has been per-programmed. Although I am not watching the humax a video signal must be generated and confusing the tv or HDMI splitter.

I have recently bought an arcam avr400 and I also lose the picture when watching a bluray firstly when the humax switching into record mode 15 mins before programme record start and also when the programme starts to record. the arcam now does the video switching and I no longer use the HDMI splitter.

The only way to rectify this is to switch off my arcam and to switch it off again.

Is there anyway to stop the humax sending video output when it switches to record mode ( if I am not watching it)

Thanks for any suggestions

Grant

(Edit - Ignore this post Grant - See later . )

Cables burred in walls without accessible ducts is repeatedly shown to be a very limiting idea.

The first problem will be due to RF leakage from one of the HDMI cables ( or conceivably the splitter itself ) and hopefully the most likely candidate will the lead from the Bluray player to the splitter.

Leaky leads can cause some or all RF multiplexes to be knocked out causing failure of reception.
A cheap replacement HDMI will usually cure the problem.

In the worst cases it can be necessary to improve the RF flyleads with better screened types so that the interference does not 'leak back in'
Make sure termination boxes are in good shape too as the interference has been known to leak back in there too.

Keep the RF and HDMI leads as separate as practically possible... Obviously not an option with cables buried in the wall - but hopefully the problem does not lie there as presumably you would have reception problems when using the Fox if it were.

No idea about the second problem - sorry - other than to suggest checking the HDMI settings option of all devices.

I have a Humax and through a hdmi spliter the Humax takes it over (for want of a better expresion.) It has to be turned on for the other inputs to work. If you left yours switched on at least it would not iterupt your other viewing,

Gavtech - I think you have slightly misunderstood the problem. The FoxSat is interfering with the BluRay player, not the other way round. I suspect the HDMI switch is to blame. Also the FoxSat is a satellite receiver, not a DVB-T receiver.

grantmc3 - exactly which switch do you have?
bow79 - sounds like you have a dodgy switch as well...

You are right Steve.

Now I have read the post more carefully - I have completely missed the point.

Apologies to all.

I am no longer using the HDMI switch. The bluray and humax now have hdmi connections directly into my Arcam AVR400.

My sense is that when the Humax starts to record a video signal is sent to the Arcam and this results in a blank screen which is only cleared when I reset my Arcam box

Both the Foxsat-hdr and the HDR FOX T2 are known to pulse the hdmi output when it wakes up to make a recording, users of Panny TV's with the foxsat-hdr on hdmi1 find they lose what they are watching when this happens . Fortunately the other hdmi inputs don't have hdmi port selection on port activity. Auto hdmi switches use a similar trick to auto select the last powered item. A switch with a remote control will allow you to switch back without powering the box you want to watch off and on again.
