Just a quick update from a few weeks ago when I had an issue with missing recordings. Reformatted hard drive, deleted all timers and reset them back up again, and have not missed a recording for 2 weeks now. The box has been solid.

Great box. Now going to update firmware, looking forward to quicker file deletes. Has always been slow up until now.

One thing I should mention while I remember . . .

As far as I can tell . . . Update 4.12.r8569 is using the Downmix method that caused some Downmix-Stereo problems on certain 5.1 HD broadcasts in 4.11.r8280 (The DownMix Lo/Ro Method as now stipulated by DTG/FreeviewHD/BBC)

The problem has been isolated to the new Broadcast Encoders and the Broadcom Chipset. DST have tried all permutations of options available to them in the Broadcom SDK (MasterLevel/Surround-attenuation Constant etc.) but the answer must now be provided by Broadcom.

If you use 5.1DD then you should not hear any problems but if you use the PCM/Stereo Downmix/Dolby OFF Option then you may get odd problems on some HD 5.1 programs (mostly films).

The Audio-Patch 4.11.r8430 version of 4.11 has the original Lt/Rt Downmix Method that works well with the new 5.1 problem broadcasts but has the previous "Jools Effect" audio problem.

Basically we are waiting for Broadcom to do their bit -

Pete

I noticed this was back last night.
Anyone know if we can re-apply the audio fix update from last month over the top of 4.12, or do we have to wait on MIT re-releasing it to take account of the new firmware?.

I think that by reading many posts on this thread, it really shows that you can't satisfy everyone's requirements for this type of equipment. I think people should get real, and appreciate what we are getting for the small cost of this box, as I am sure that if we were paying double the amount,it would still not meet everyone's requirements. I have bought a lot of entertainment equipment over the years, and I must say that DS customer relations is certainly among the best I have encountered. OK, so there are faulty boxes out there, but with the likes of JL's service,it surely doesn't present too much of a problem.I certainly think it bodes well for the future, and I look forward to see what they produce next.

Hi

You can certainly revert to Audio-Patch 4.11.r8430.
Just apply Using Menu Method - Front USB.

You will be back at 4.11 level again.

If you eMail MIT they (DST) might make an Lt/Rt patch version of 4.12 but I think it is hoped that Broadcom will sort it out and an updated, fully fixed, 4.12 will be available soon.

Pete

As long as re-applying the audio patch leaves the new features (DIVX playback primarily) intact, then I'll be a happy bunny.

I'll certainly email MIT as well though, worth a try.

Just to add my contribution to the proceedings.....

Update went okay as per normal with front USB as I downloaded from the ftp server. All seems good but still some long delete times although these were older recordings. Don't know if the post update ones will delete quicker but I'm not going to sit there with a stopwatch.

Well done to the team at DSK for hitting the EoJ as promised

Hi

A stated - You will be at level 4.11 - so no DivX.

It is a patched (Lt/Rt) version of 4.11 (as per filename 4.11.r8430) not a universal patch.

Please eMail MIT is you want an interim (patched to Lt/Rt) version of 4.12 while we wait for Broadcom to fix the mandated Lo/Ro downmix function.

Pete

Still showing as recording - again

Sorry, not been able to set up logging yet, just got out of hospital and going straight back in to a different one, but the wife complained she had a recording clash when only two items where running. A quick look and "Inside the polar bear" was showing as recording, complete with red splat despite it having been broadcast Thursday - or Wednesday - evening and this being Friday afternoon. Removed it from the schedule and end of problem, but...same old same old. Try and look into it further when I can. Have fun with your updates.

Hi

In order to get TV HDMI passthrough you may have to set to ON not AUTO

There is a Pop-Up warning about non enabled devices etc.

If you set to AUTO it only works with DD enabled Amps as TVs seem to report not DD5.1 capable at boot/negotiation time.

Yes, it is amazing the amount of co-operation that we are seeing, and just shows how far DSK will go in order to try to get a solution.

Well done to all (and that includes people here).

Missed Recording

I've recently had an issue where a recording was missed. I was watching the TV at the same time whilst the recording was supposed to be happening. I was the Kennedys on BBC HD that was scheduled which for some reason did not start recording.

I was watching and noticed at the time whilst the kennedys was on, when you pressed i it showed info the program that was on before (today at wimbledon). In the EPG it showed the kennedys at the right time. I also noticed this happen on channel 4 at the time, started watching something at 21:30 but was showing info from the previous program at 21:00 when pressing i. I had schedule kennedys on bbc hd at 2100 and 2145, and at some point I was fiddling about at about 22:00, not sure what I did, but the info button started showing correct info and then the box started recording the 2145 episode of the kennedys.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this before. I was on the recent beta firmware at the time and have now update to the latest release of firmware so might have been a bug with that firmware but I'll keep an eye on it.

Hi

The EPG may well show the correct info.

The AR system takes the NOW Info and that was showing the previous program. Sounds like a broadcaster error.

anyone notice that DD drops out after some time using the new implemented DD over Hdmi ? half hour ish.
i don't have the best receiver in the world but i have never had DD drop out and default to PLII when streaming dd optically. but now having tried the new dd over hdmi which incidentally i'm getting sound via tv passthrough the amp reports DD for a while but then displays prologic. i've yet to confirm if DD is still actually being played but PLII reported!

What are you watching at the moment? As at 6.30pm, ITV HD PLII and BBC 4 PLII, the other two DD.
