Pace Twin Update???

I recently bought a Twin with March software, and then updated to the October version.
Whilst generally fairly pleased with it, I'm having the usual minor problems as well as the major issue of picture freeze during playback.

I was hoping that the 'new' March software would finally resolve these issues, and turn the Pace into an excellent unit.
Unfortunately, I now understand that this update will only be another repeat.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA ABOUT THE LIKELY DATE AND CONTENT OF THE EVENTUAL 'NEW' SOFTWARE?

I'd love to keep the Twin, but I'm becoming impatient to have a fully functioning and reliable DVR.
I'm seriously considering returning it, and then buying the Humax PVR-8000T and an additional Sony or Pioneer STB.

I'd be interested in this as to be honest I'm getting a bit tired of recordings stopping part way through and/or jumping back to the beginning. These problems affect 1 in 4 recordings at the mo'.

I was impressed with the PQ at first but the problems will be outweighing the benefits if it carries on like this.

Still, Mrs Breszh'll be more than happy if it goes back, she hasn't liked it from the start!

Cheers.....but the 4th-8th March update is now going to be a repeat, and not the new software I expected.

I suppose I'll have to make a final choice between waiting (possibly several months?) for the new software (and trusting it corrects at least the basic playback problems), or going the Humax + STB route now..........more expensive, extra cables etc., but should be more reliable and giving twice the recording capacity.

Choices, choices!

Pace did mention that the new (not repeat) software would be available in an early March broadcast, but, as further testing is required, this will now be a repeat. Hopefully the new version will not be along far behind.

Im not sure what the new software will bring, but I got the impression that it would be partially rewritten and contain significant enhancements in addition to software fixes.

Yes; hopefully the delay here means that, for the first time, they are actually going to wait to release until the new version is pretty well a polished, fully working product. Pity they didn't do that 12 months ago.

This is a bit of a noddy question but; i recently bought my Pace from Argos and I have no idea on how I check what the software version is. How do I check the version, but more importantly how can I get interactive and teletext to work on my box?

cheers,
E

E,

Select:- Menu.....Configuration.....Product data.....

You'll see the software release date listed (probably March).

If you want to update to the (current) October software, wait until 4th-8th March. Then, when tuned to a BBC channel, you should receive an update message.....or you can initiate a manual update.

Hope this helps.....

Thanks Hoppy, do I still have to wait until 4th March even for a manual update?
