Nichimen PVR1622 reinstallation every day

Hi All

My Nichimen PVR1622 now demands a first time install every day - this seems to be problem it generates over night. The symptoms are that the display has changed to 000 and it then walks me through the first time install and channel scan. Therefore I can't setup any recordings other than for the current day.

Anyone know why this is happening? Any possible solutions which hopefully don't involve a trip to the recycling centre!

Rgds., Roy

Does the PVR suffer this if you put it into standby or power off during the day, or only ever the following day?

Two thoughts;

In the menu, disable firmware upgrade checking (I'm 99.99999% sure there will never be any more firmware OAD broadcast);
Menu - Settings - Configuration - Receiver Upgrade - Auto Upgrade, set to "off".

Or since the receiver searches for an OAD at 3am each day, try setting recordings which end just before 3am and start after 3am. If it fails to record the first or successfully records the second, that would suggest it is not the OAD check which is the problem.
If it is, and turning off auto upgrade fails to cure it, another way might be to set two recordings each day (daily repeat mode) for 2.59 - 3.01, as an auto upgrade cannot be triggered at 3am if both tuners are in use.

Thanks for the reply. I turned off the auto update feature as suggested but then noticed that it went to 000 again while switched on and not in standby mode during the evening !

I don't understand what is causing this but I suspect the box has had it...
