Cable TV input for Sagem DTR64160T??

I live in India and my grandpa just got a Sagem DTR64160T from the UK for himself.. He was aware that it may not work here, but was willing to take the chance.
I understand that it's meant for digital tv(and that most of the features like the program guide are useless without it) , but we've got cable TV in our house, and I was wondering if there was some way to make atleast the basic recording features to work with the cable TV connection.
I've connected my grandpa's LCD to the recorder through the SCART cable, and connected the Coax cable to the recorder. The recorder's got a Coax jack, but it's supposed to be connected to an antenna, so when I start the device, it tries to scan for channels, but does not find any.

Since its got a coax jack, I was wondering if there was some way to use my cable tv connection instead of connecting it to an antenna ..

Re: Cable TV input for Sagem DTR64160T??

Unfortunately for your grandfather & you what he has bought is a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) which can only record from its own twin digital tuners. So it can certainly not record from your cable system or from your TV. If you have terrestrial digital TV in your part of India, & it it uses the same DVB-T system as ours in the UK, then it might pick up some channels from an aerial (antenna) connection.

For the record, the normal way of connecting the machine is the coaxial aerial connection goes into it (& then onto the TV if you wish); & by Scart from the PVR to the TV.
