DVR BNC video out.

Hello,

This may be a silly question but is the coax used with a BNC cable the same as standard TV coax. In other words if I buy and adapter from BNC to an RF connector will I be able to view the images from the DVR on my TV?

75ohm coax is the standard used for all domestic interconnects including rca phono and scart leads. But i imagine the output you refer to is carrying cvbs video not rf. So you will likely need a scart to RCA phono adaptor for the TV and a rca phono to BNC to make the video connection and a pair of rca phonos leads for the audio with the appropriate plugs (RCA - BNC ?) for the DVR end

Thanks, It is for images only. The DVR is for CCTV. Sorry I could not find a suitable forum for DVR or BNC if this is the wrong place to ask the question.

It's as good a place as any
My local QD branch has a lead kit for about £5 which contains everything you would need to connect from a BNC/RCA video out to a scart in.

I can't see it really matters that much, at least you got an answer .

You need one of these if you want to use TV scart input(these are available almost anywhere)

SCART to AV Adapter Plug 3 x Phonos/SVHS IN/OUT Switch on eBay (end time 11-Nov-09 22:47:15 GMT)

One of these

- 5 x BNC Male Plug to RCA/Phono Female Socket Adaptor- on eBay (end time 07-Dec-09 09:23:04 GMT)

and a lead with a rca phono plug on each end

Re: DVR BNC video out.

I ordered these a few days ago. I am going to convert BNC to RF and use some satellite coax I have. Should this not work?

Thats fine but what are you going to do at the display end ?. You will need a F connector to RCA phono converter

I was hoping to use the coax TV input by plugging it into a 3 way splitter like this

It won't work the coax input requires the input of a tunable TV channel like a rf modulator creates an analogue TV channel on a uhf carrier of your choice. The output is almost certainly analogue composite video (CVBS), it needs to be connected to a direct video input like a scart or rca phono (yellow) input commonly labelled as games input.

The CCTV DVR is in the attic and only TV coax runs between the two. Can I use this coax cable with the aid of converters then via a scart connection to the TV

Something like this??
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ILS102-MODUL...7859204&sr=8-1

Or, Can I use this box at the DVR end and then use the coax splitter to feed the signal via the coax to my two points one in bedroom and one in sitting room, thus allowing me to view the CCTV images on either TV??

http://cgi.ebay.ie/SHINYBOW-SB-4300-...item588428f4a4

Or this??

Yes you can but your original idea is fine provided the TV's you are using have direct video inputs. Using a modulator will turn the dvdr video output back to a analogue TV channel that will be viewable on any TV with a digital tuner. A small video amplifier will split the video output to two TV's and it's fine to use 75ohm coax for video it's just overkill for video signals which don't need the performance of uhf coax cable. Example

Kramer Composite 3 way Video Amp Splitter VM-3VXL/UK on eBay (end time 17-Nov-09 23:39:04 GMT)
