Humax 9300T - Recording issues

Hi guys

I bought this about 1 week ago and so far have tried to watch 2 films which i'd recorded. The first showed the full length of the film in the progress/timer bar that appears when you pause, fast forward etc... but despite this, I only got the first hour of the film and then the end credits - the bar skipped the extra 1 hour inbetween.
The second occasion I watched nearly the whole of a film and was shown that there were 15 mins remaining... the film suddenly stopped and skipped the next 15 mins on the progress bar, reset to the beginning of the recording and had apparently missed the end. Neither film overran and I have no reception problems.

Anyone else had any similar problems? How come the recording length bar reflects the true length of the programme, but not the length of the actual recording made? Are there known issues that cause problems to occur if you switch to standby whilst a recording is happening (it's my understanding that this should be OK)?

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated.

I haven't updated it yet as I don't have one of those old-school cables - was hoping it would do it automatically over the air...?

Re: Humax 9300T - Recording issues

I had exactly the same problem at the weekend.

I recorded a 2 hour programme and when I played it back it jumped from 45m to 1hr45m! Like you, the timer bar shows the full recorded time. The only reason for this I can think of is that it froze and resumed within the recording period.

I've had no problems with it until the DSO started in the Granada region a few months ago and it's been worse since last week - all sorts of weird things going on.

Re: Humax 9300T - Recording issues

I've read a few threads on here about freeze ups and I guess that would certainly explain it (though i've not noticed any yet during normal operation. that would have to mean they also occur when the machine is in standby mode?).
We went fully digital down here a couple of months ago and the unit has only ever experienced the current, more powerful digital signal.

Pretty annoying to be 0 for 2 so far. Will give it a couple more chances, but if the problem persists it will have to go back. Annoying - thought i'd eradicated the need for the annoying heap of random and incorrectly labelled DVD+Rs

Failure to record

Hi,

I bought a Humax 9300T a couple of months ago to replace a Technica HDD which I bought in Tesco's a few years ago. The Technica worked almost perfectly but it lacked one feature that I wanted and is available on the Humax - the ability to reserve series. Since buying the Humax I found some other features useful too, including the ability to skip commercials in fixed time-jumps as I'd occasionally caused the old system to freeze by fast-fowarding and backwarding to find the restart position. I also liked the ability to automatically switch to alternative transmissions to prevent recording clashes.

Apart from one or two niggles, like the unnecessarily complicated replay and delete procedures and not being able to see the program information of recorded programs without actually starting them, the system worked fine - that is until I went on holiday for 10 days. I'd set it up to record a couple of programs and the series "Spooks" and left the systems in standby mode the same as I do normally. When I got back I found that nothing at all had been recorded during the period that I had been away although the recording schedule still listed them. When I switched on, it wasn't frozen or anything - it just hadn't worked. What's more because the episode of "Spooks" had failed to be recorded, it hadn't entered the following episode in the schedule either, thus breaking the series chain.

Can anyone suggest what I might have done wrong because I've looked through all the device documentation and failed to find any explanation?

Sorry to reopen an old-ish thread.. I have exactly the same issue as Strathmere (see quote below) when leaving my 9300T for long periods, and wanted to know if there's a solution (or reason) anyone knew of?

I missed the last 2 episodes of Gavin and Stacey because of this, not impressed.

Strathmere's description of problem:
"I went on holiday for 10 days. I'd set it up to record a couple of programs and the series "Spooks" and left the systems in standby mode the same as I do normally. When I got back I found that nothing at all had been recorded during the period that I had been away although the recording schedule still listed them.
