Problems with Humax PVR-9150T

Have 2 new Humax PVRs, both of which are having Mega problems! On one, the guide hasn't fully populated all day and on the other, all is filled other than BBC 1 & 2 Wales.
Both boxes frequently crash even when not in use, resulting in programmes not being recorded, as i am unaware this has happened.
I live in N.Wales which is undergoing transmission problems, but this has been occuring for days now.
I bought the equipment a week ago.
Any advice would be welcome, please. Thank you

I suspect you have been affected by the Winter Hill transmitter DSO current activity. See thread here for example. If you want to get more technical look at the threads here and here

To Creddish
Thank you very much for your help. It seems i will have to wait until the digital changeover is complete before things will-hopefully- improve.

Your welcome. In the meantime if your correct transmitter is Winter Hill, as suggested in the threads I linked to, you could try a Manual tune first for the five UHF Channels 56,62,66,68 and 63. If that improves things either live with that for now or try adding Channel 67 as described in the post here deleting the duplicated channels in the PVR Channel List. If the improvement of the first step is retained then leave it at that. If it deteriorates significantly then re-tune again with just the 5 initial UHF channels.

In any event you will need to re-tune again on 2 Dec when the full DSO occurs for your region.

I can't test the validity of the above myself as I don't live in the affected region.

Thanks again, but I am reluctant to try all the suggestions as I am 75, and 'though I consider myself computer literate, I forsee getting into a helluva mess!
I had a call today from my retailer who told me that Humax contacted him saying they are aware of the problems and have promised an update within 2 weeks.

Age is no excuse. I'm 76.

OK. You win! I will be sexist and add that as a woman I perhaps have less confidence in my electronic abilities than you!

Oh I see, that's different. Just joking. .

Actually there are several members of the fair sex on here who are clued up on PVR technology and like ourselves have seen a good part of the 20th century.

Humax PVR-9150T indicator lights

I've no idea how to start a new thread, so I'll latch onto this one:

The status lights on the 9150T are nor explained in the manual, and my neighbour (after I'd recommended this PVR), managed to lock up hers, leaving the status and the timer LEDs showing. I could only clear them by powering the whole thing off.

The question is, how did she manage to get the timer light on, and consequently lock the machine? I've tried to duplicate this on my own Humax but I've been unable to do it.

Question 2 is, I suppose, why are these lights not referenced in the manual?

The software was released to stop the unit "locking up" so sounds like you don't have it yet.

Not sure on lights but basically, green light is on red is off and red light and green light at the same time means it's recording something. I think.

Probably some more but it's not something I've really thought about.

Go into the settings and make sure the unit is set to auto update so you don't miss the next over the air software patch.

These problems are being caused by the digital re-tune ready for the switchover.

@kriandor, Just a couple of extra points :-

1. What region are you in? If it's a post-DSO region such as Granada, then the specially arranged update (alternating with the 9300 update) is being broadcast on MuxB, which post-DSO regions no longer carry. If this is your situation you will have to wait until the update is able to be scheduled with DTG on their engineering channel on Mux1, which is carried in all regions. This might be some time, as it looks like there are no slots left for December.

2. The setting you need is not just Auto Update. If you choose Automatic Update today, for instance, it will Automatically search now, and not keep checking. You need Menu>Installation>Software Update>Regular Auto Update; also set the time you want it to check (Default 04:00), and the box must be in Standby to be able to check & update.

Rgds.

Les.

Thanks folks. My Humax is set to auto update but I don't think my neighbour's is, so I'll check.

As for my region, I'm in the UK so I'm not sure if that applies.

Thanks again!

Sorry - just go the bit about region. I'm in London so I would imagine that we should be well covered.
