My neighbour has just bought a 9300T from John Lewis, in the box it has a couple of page quick start guide, warranty documentation and then a CD containing the main 80 page manual.

Should it have this main manual also printed in the box? Can't imagine he'll get far unless he prints it all out to read, the quick start (I only had a cursor glance) is very basic.

If they have provided a disc containing the full manual then that is probably all you can expect.

It is generally the way things are going.

Increasingly documentation is being presented only in electronic fashion.

Best idea is copy out a version of the PDF to the Desktop so it is readily available for reference.

Most equipment these days is reasonably intuitive and often will provide onscreen messages or instructions, so usually the manual only requires referral maybe a few times at first, or perhaps later for addressing any special functions.

Maybe Humax have stopped supplying the manual in paper format.

Thanks Guys, the full manuals are provided on the CD, but he's the sort that really needs to sit down with the manual, a thread on Amazon suggests if you ring their customer services they'll send out a printed copy: Amazon.co.uk: Customer Discussions: No printed manual. Disappointing

So I'll get him to do that.

PS Went and helped him setup this morning and the packing list in the CD manual states there should definitely be a printed manual and printed quickstart in addition to the reference CD, so I've told him to ring up and ask for one when the helpline is open on Monday - might be useful to others getting one without a manual!

Works fine, now I'm very tempted to get one myself
