If they have provided a disc containing the full manual then that is probably all you can expect.
It is generally the way things are going.
Increasingly documentation is being presented only in electronic fashion.
Best idea is copy out a version of the PDF to the Desktop so it is readily available for reference.
Most equipment these days is reasonably intuitive and often will provide onscreen messages or instructions, so usually the manual only requires referral maybe a few times at first, or perhaps later for addressing any special functions.
