I was looking at my Playstation 1 collection last night and I still have my original US retail disc version of the game. I saw the video on PSN and realised it hasn't aged very well though.

The graphics weren't the best even at the time, apart from the stunning cut scenes...it's all about the story and gameplay I guess

Like the poster above me said, the story and game mechanics are still very enjoyable. I have it on my PSP, on a small screen like that its ok. Doubt it'd be any good on my 37" LCD though.

I watched the video last night and thought it had aged ok. Have to factor in when I played this the first time it was through s-video on a 14'' CRT and not a 50'' plasma

I have been playing through FF9 on my PSP since I never played it the first time round. I completed FF7 a couple of times back on the PS1 but I think I'll probably go and finish it again once I'm done with 9

Not all that great to be honest. Gameplay doesn't suffer though.

It does look much better on PSP than on my 40" LCD.

Yup, on a PSP it easy has good enough graphics to be playable. On a 40"+ it would probably look a bit rough.

I have fond memories of FF7, but dont really want to play it again. For one the top end mucking about with materia and summons annoyed me, have people forgotten just how long it took to do Bahamut ZERO or Knights of Round

i really really wanted this game. It just doesn't look as good now as it did then . I've been spoiled by the like of Killzone 2

Personally i hated the summons, far too long and unskippable i just hit things, as you'd actually finish fights quicker.

Re: Final Fantasy VII

If you think summoning Knights of the round or bahamut Zero on their own was long you should do what i and a few others would do and have them linked to the double summon and quad repeat at level 2 materia.

basically it would summon Bahamut zero then when that finsished summon knights of the round straight after and repeat the process 8 times.. Great for taking down emerald which actually required doing the whole sequence twice to finish him off.

Re: Final Fantasy VII

I've just bought this again. Never got round to completing the game as a 9 year old as my memory card was accidentally formatted whilst I was on the 3rd disc. I couldn't put myself through such a long drawn out affair again, until now! Brilliant game though. Once you've played it for about 10 minutes the graphics don't even bother you, to anybody thinking about downloading it. Do it!
