The critically acclaimed RPG Final Fantasy VII has arrived on the Japanese Playstation Network Store. The 1997 hit, arguably the most popular in the series, is now available for download for ¥1,500 (roughly $14.93) according to the consumer weblog Kotaku (a steal considering a pristine copy of the game can still fetch upwards of $50 on ebay).

Unfortunately no release date has been announced for the western psn

I'm sure it will get a western release as it's easy money for Square Enix.

However if you have a custom firmware PSP then there is nothing stopping you from playing it now and the graphics don't look so bad on a small screen.

Re: Final Fantasy VII out in JAPAN on PSN

Anyone remember when GAME were selling pre-owned FFVII copies on their website for about £7 last year? I managed to pick it up then to play on the PS3 (having never had a PS1 or PS2). Good times.

Re: Final Fantasy VII out in JAPAN on PSN

It's all bit too rose tinted, I played it through again a few years ago, the graphics haven't aged well and the script/plot seemed a lot less gripping in 97. A new-gen remake would be interesting but the endless spinoffs and teenage fanboyism has killed it for me

Also I seem to remember spending ages with this game, 70-80 hours ish, I realised that recently i've put over 130 hours into fallout 3 (ps3 + pc versions) which has shocked me a bit!

Good job summer's on it's way
