Struggling to get to grips with it again. Used to be able to complete it without losing a round on the snes. Can't do that any more!

Re: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix

I know tell me about it, all those years ago playing on the arcade used to be able to get through to bison almost with no lives lost! At the moment getting to the 4th or 5th opponent (usually annoying T-Hawk) gets me killed, even on medium!

Im sure they have programmed cheap tricks into it! Online play is a bit laggy too.

Add me if anyone wants a game

I'm finding the same thing. I reckon the balance of the game has changed just enough that I'm not finding the timings like I had on the SNES where I could go through the game without losing a round on 8 star difficulty. Have been getting owned by some of the traditionally 'lesser' characters though, especially T Hawk, but even Zangief and Honda. The fat guys have all got better!

Like the sound of a tourny though. I've not found the lag to be too bad but haven't had the nerve to get onto the ranking games. Can hold my own on the friendlies but expecting a real lesson in the rankings

The difference is this is a direct port of the arcade Super Turbo which AFAIK never came out on SNES so will be slightly different to whichever SNES version you played.

Also you gotta remember they have balanced the game, so the weaker characters have now been toughened up and the stronger characters toned down a bit so there are no more crap characters like Zangief and Dhalsim. In fact, normally I'm a Ryu/Ken/Sagat man but I'm finding in this my strongest characters are now Blanka/Honda/Guile.

Absolutely, the SNES hardware wasn't as powerful as the original arcade board - whereas the ps3 has more than enough power to reproduce the original, so what you're getting is an arcade perfect emulation (in HD), without any of the slowdown/odd timings that the SNES versions had

You have to have created a US PSN account on your PS3 (by giving an American address) then use that user and the US store to buy it as its not available on the UK PSN yet.

I think there was something about when you add your billing information you can leave the state as an american one as long as you only fund your credit card in $5 increments, that way the credit card company doesnt check the full address or something?

My AMEX card was billed fine the 3 x $5 increments i added $14.99 is a bargain!

Re: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix

I have a old arcade stick from my PS1 days that is very well built and is perfect for this type of game as I'm not very good with a pad.

Would this work if I get a PS2 adapter for the PS3 as I would prefer a stick over a pad especially on SF4 when it comes out.

Thanks.

Might have to try some of the other characters too. Normally stick with Ryu for the balance but been struggling both on and offline. Starting to wish I'd spent a little more time down the arcades all those years ago.

100% agreed that timing is everything with this type of game and any kind of lag can ruin it. Seemed ok at my end though....

Dont know if the adaptor would work, although i see no reason why it wouldnt - im finding the pad hard to use and was thinking of buying a Hori stick - they have a special edition one coming out for SF4 - but its looking expensive at over £100!!! Maybe I need to get out more?

My first feeling was that this should work but then I remembered one of my PS1 pads not working with a PS2, so not sure sure. The arcade sticks have to be the best way forward if planning on spending a fair bit of time on this game. £100+ though Wow!

Re: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix

I would rather use the stick I have if possible as it's a really good one and it's worn in as well which helps with SF.

There is this option maybe instead of £100.
Hori Fighting Stick 3 for PlayStation 3 - PlayStation 3 Accessories - GAME.co.uk

Don't know how good it is tho!

Thanks for that mate, i have had a look around but it all seems rather complicated to find out which sticks are the decent ones, I cant remember if i read a few reviews about that one saying its not great - would explain the price difference...

Build one using an old Sixaxis, no lag that way and you can put in exactly the parts you want

I hadnt really thought about the differences or if there will be any issues, I cant imagine there being, I have downloaded and played games both on US and UK accounts and vice versa - there never seems to be a problem, I think its quite common and I've not heard about Sony recommending not to do it. (if anyone has then let me know!)

The only thing I could think of is if the updates are the same, but you can just sign in to the US account and download the latest one (they are usually out in the US first anyway!) Totally up to you though mate, you have to make your own decision - I wouldnt want to be responsible for a SSF2THD fallout

I'd assume it's something to do with quality testing with all the languages?

Red face Re: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix

The graphics are amazing but the game should have more modes etc;

If anyone wants to buy the game, go to ebay.com buy a $20 PSN card and redeem it through PSN store. Got mine for £16 not bad to be honest unless you don't mind waiting 2-3 extra weeks until it arrives on UK PSN.

Also it saves time by not entering your credit card details.
