The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

Hi,

Really enjoyed the short demo of this, however its only out in Japan/US so far so i've not got the full version. Anyone got the full version? What do you think? Has it got a euro release date yet?

http://www.jp.playstation.com/scej/title/lastguy/

Demo and Full Game on the EU store for £4.99

Think it's supposed to be out this Thurs in EU. Might only be the Demo though but sure I saw somewhere it'll be the full game.

Re: The Last Guy

Cheers. PSN downloadable games there seems to be a running theme that a demo appears when the full game is also available to buy.

Looking forward to some more levels and not having to sit through a rolling demo each time i go for a high score!

I wasnt sure about the demo, felt a bit of a mash-up of centipede, pacman and snake, and i could easily see myself getting bored/annoyed with it, as i found the zombies didnt stand out very well from the backgrounds, and your fellow humans are idiots - much like real life...

I thought it was OK and it's certainly worth a bash for a fiver! I may buy it sometime but it's nothing that i'm in a rush to play to be honest.

Re: The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

I got the demo from the US store last week and really liked it. So, I bought the full game today from the EU store - it's termendous. If you liked the demo, I recommend the full game.

I just have to find enough hours in the day to play all these shiny games now!!

Re: The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

So why is the US demo 211MB and the UK/Aus one only 115MB? It is usually the other way around due to the additional languages.

Re: The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

Great little game this, full of Japanese touches which I like. For the price you cant complain to much but maybe a little repetitive. It's a bit like all the cheap PSN games, great to pick up and play for an hour or so. As said before, if you liked the demo you will like the full game.

Is there much voice in the game? I haven't played it but extra languages only really affect the file size if there's a lot of voice recordings to replicate.

Possibly the US demo features a different city to the EU one, and the difference is down to the satellite imagery used?

Only watched my other half play it but there didn't seem to be much voicework at all. Must be a different map, didn't think of that (still it is almost double the size, that would be a lot more detail).

It could just be a bigger map?

I have no idea, I haven't played one of the demos yet let alone both of them, I'm just brainstorming potential explanations

Re: The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

just downloaded and played the demo few hours ago, I dont have perfect eye sight and would prefer if there was extra zoom to it. This game has got the potential to be a very good PSN game but personally I need more zoom into it. Other then that I found it quite good.

Re: The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

Excellent little game and has got the 'one more go' syndrome... I really like the beating sound of the footsteps when you have a few thousand in a line!!

Some zombies can be hard to spot down dark alleys, but I feel stopping and spotting movement is part of as these monsters are usually the slow ponderous ones.

Wish it had a few more levels as it has enough variations in the gameplay to allow quite a few more without it getting boring. I've still got a couple of levels to go mind you and keep getting edged out of the top 100

Re: The Last Guy - Preview/Play & Help Thread

I love the whole atmosphere of this game For a small game with a very simple gameplay style it still has something of the epic monster movie/Omega Man ways about it.

What I find surprising is that I can't believe that I've not played anything like it before. Maybe people considered the mechanic and just thought it would be too siplistic to turn into something so entertaining. Whatever the case I love it

... Actually I have played something like it before! It's like pacman but on google maps I loved Pacman CE too.

Its a cross between snake and pac-man, its a blast and a half.

'Just one more go' sums up this game.
