High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

Downloaded this from the US Store and it's a really fun game. A great family game, so if you're looking for something to play with the family over Christmas then you'll be bowled over by this. The controls are Wii-style, which the PS3 controller is well suited for this as you can almost hold it as you would a bowling ball. More than enough here to keep you busy for a few hours as you try to unlock other characters (all with different skills), alternate clothes and ball designs by playing a tournament, single matches and challenges (knocking down pins whilst avoiding cones etc). The only downside is there's no online play, but you can have 1-4 players offline and there is an online leaderboard for comparing scores. The graphics are good enough (better than Wii Sports) and the music is superb, as you can access the XMB in-game and play your own tracks.

Not bad value at all for a fiver!

Yeah, I second the above. My two kids love it and I am quite impressed for a fiver. It's a shame there's no online and the spin buttons are tricky for little hands but a good fun can be had.

Seeing a good mix of games coming to the PS3 now, CoD4, Rachet and Clank, Assians, Bowling, Eye Toy mini games and others. Things are looking up. Now all I need is Wipeout, GT5, Little Big Planet and MGS - Happy days.

^ I agree, my 4 year old can't manage the spin buttons, but he seems to cope fine without them (2 strikes and 3 spares!). Could do with a PS3 controller wrist-strap now. Luckily it's only left his hand once so far..

It's due this month - not sure of exact date but I'd imagine 13th or 20th.

Like the look of this a lot, concerned about the controller finishing up in the TV so I'll be looking at making some sort of strap up if I get this.

Is this available for demo download for UK yet tho?

re: (PSN) High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

Only played one game of this, but it seems really good. My arm is a bit sore - remarkably similar to real bowling. I reckon this is going to be a good party game, and for $10 it's nothing.

I'm also a bit nervous of smashing in the TV - I've arranged my play area so I bowl to the side of the TV, just to minimise the risk of breaking something.

Unless you have already registered a card with yoru US account then you will be out of luck mate, even with a wirecard. However there is the option on over the counter visa/mastercards or blagging someone elses US account.

re: (PSN) High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

Unless your card is registered to a US address then nope. You could get around this with a wirecard (www.wirecard.com) but this does not work anymore either unless you alreday have it setup as Sony now check the address.

Sorry mate, tis a right pain because they get the games first most of the time. I mean I know we have to wait because we are classes a europe but.... Americans speak english, just like us so why not let us have the games at the same time?

If they treated us a little be more like equals maybe we would not have to work out dodgey hacks to enable us to buy content - "Do they want our hard earned cash or not?"

The trailer is on the UK store, so its safe to assume we will be getting the game.

It looks great, very silly. Should be a good laugh over Xmas (with a few beers !!)

High Velocity Bowling - Character not moving

Hi all

I purchased this game last week and everything worked fine. However when I tried to play it again this morning, the character (bowler) doesn't move/walk to the bowling line at all.

When the game started up I could move the arrows to the point where he/she has to be & also the arrow where the ball has to aim at. Then the character just stopped there without moving forward.

I deleted & re-downloaded twice but still doesn't work.

Any ideas what has gone wrong?

Thanks.

Please try and do a search before starting a new thread if not neccessary. Merging thread with existing play and help one on game.

re: (PSN) High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

Wow how good is this game!!!

Dualshock 3 compatible and 1080p and Custom Tunes!!!

High Velocity Bowling is really the best purchase i've made on the PSN network so far. Got it for $9.99, this works out around £5.

It's clever how the pad is used as a bowling ball. Even the Wii would be hard pushed to intergrate bowling as good as this.

To get this game follow instructions below

1) Sign up for a virtual credit card on http://www.entropay.com/ and get your card number and security no.
2) Go onto your PS3 and set up a new account with a fake US address (use a US hotel, just change the house number)!
3) Add a credit card with the name Entropay give you (usually 'ENTROPAY USER') and the card number/security no.
4) Go and buy stuff!

You won't regret it

When/If will this game come to the UK. I'm tempted to just use the entropy method and get it from the US store. Whats the betting it will be £10 if it ever makes it here?

Played this for the first time at a mates house last night. Played 1 game and got 155. Not sure if that is good or not.

As for the implementation of the controller, Bowling on the Wii definately does it better as you actually use the controller to generate the spin by flicking your wrist rather than just pressing a button.

Not a bad effort though.

EDIT: Also played PAIN at my mates and immediately downloaded it myself when I got home. Haven't bothered with this though, but might do. I think Wii bowling has spoiled it for me.

When you sign up for EntroPay, did you choose the account currency as USD? That seems to make the most sense, as you want it to pay for things in USD.

I'm guessing the 5% charge for putting money on the card, and the conversion charge from your bank don't really add up to much?

As Fritz24 has said, just leave the currency as GBP. It will work with no problems. Check out the thread on using entropay.

re: (PSN) High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

Lets get this thread going again now its on the uk store.

Great game. I actually prefer it to the wii game as its much harder.

To easy to get a strike everytime on the wii and straight shots end up as strikes to easily.

On the high velocity there is much more to it and the challenges are great.

Getting hard now on level 4 tournament !!!

re: (PSN) High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

I perfer it to the WII version too, I know it's bad of me but.... I just can't get over how bad the WII looks on my 43" Pio. I know games are not all about the graphics but I am a lazy gamer!!! I don't dig the wave your arms around stuff and if I wanted gamecube graphics I can always dig out my gamecube!

Anyways, back on topic, this is a great game for a 5 quid, my kids love it. I think the following additional elements (patched maybe?!) would really add to this little 5 pound gem;

1) Online PSN Play

2) Naming your players (player one, two, etc ***!)

3) Ongoing Scores/Stats (Wins, Loses, Total Strikes, etc)

re: (PSN) High Velocity Bowling - Play & Help

downloaded this at W/E - Great fun... Butt ugly characters !

Why cant more games use the SIXAXIS to this level ! And even rumbles with the DS3 !

Great for a fiver - Good recommendation.

Also forgot to mention:
Press Select - and you can choose music that you've got loaded on your local PS3, its doesn't work with media servers; so just copy the tracks you like locally.
and it's 1080p HD, which don't make much difference to a game like this but it looks sharp on the reflections etc ...
