Go! Sports Ski

Anyone else bought this yet? Gotta say, for the equivalent of £1.50 this is a good buy. Nothing stunning graphics-wise, but good use of the Sixaxis and worth the money to keep the kids quiet for a while. Only 2 tracks by the looks of it, but a choice of time-attack, slalom or battle, with offline 2-player split screen. Had a few practise goes, then went online to try my luck. The record time was half of what I've managed - I need more practise!

Re: Go! Sports Ski

I would get it, but I can only get demos from the US Store... (credit card issues!) so will have to wait for it to hit the UK Store. Im afraid I am a complete sucker for cheapy downloadable games!

Just played for first time online, and really enjoyed it, had a battle mode and was great fun for £1.50

Re: Go! Sports Ski

I imagine there will be some new tracks to download soon, or whatever ski slopes are called. I've just realised that you can change ski's to go faster. The downside is it's almost impossible to turn in time then! Good fun, just a shame the menus look like spectrum graphics - it makes the game look worse than it is!

I think they were basing their review on it costing £39.99 and not £1.50. I don't bother reading reviews there anymore.

You're allowed to do tricks off some jumps, but sometimes a giant X will appear on-screen and you won't be able to perform tricks, like if you simply ride off a giant jump rather than actually jumping. Why would this prevent you from performing a trick? To make matters worse, it can be hard to stop performing a trick, which means your dude will continue to flip around and around even though you're holding the controller perfectly straight and still, causing you to crash.
LOL obviously the reviewer doesn't ski or snowboard. Sounds fairly realistic tbh Some jumps you don't want to be doing tricks off, simply doing the jump and landing is enough. Also, once you start a trick on real snowboard/skis you don't get half way through and say to yourself ohhh better stop this...... you generally have a massive adrenalin rush as you realise you could come very close to dieing in a very short timescale! This is followed almost immediately by landing on your head.

Re: Go! Sports Ski

Personally I think that some people are just too harsh when judging reviews. At the end of the day a review is just a personal opinion something that is not going to be shared by everyone. I'm sure there are games out there that others would review the same because it's their opinion. I don't think one should criticize someone just because they don't agree with your point of view on something. What makes your opinion any more legitimate then his. If you don't agree with the guys review fair enough. Just leave it at that.

Re: Go! Sports Ski

I don't think you can register any more new credit cards on the US store so unless you already have an account there you're probably going to be out of luck. I'm sure someone wil correct me if I'm mistaken.

No I think you are right. I'm pretty gutted about it, cos theres things I would have bought and be playing right now if only it would accept my card I would happily be proved wrong though, if anyone has any new info on how to get paid-for content from the US store.

Re: Go! Sports Ski

I paid $3 from the US store, and which I think was an ok price for it. If you think 5 pounds is a rip off (and I do), it's even more expensive here in the German store, where it's €8.

Go Ski (Japanese download) error

I've recently set myself up with accounts for the different regional PS Stores to get as many demos as possible.

I've managed to download the Go Ski game - but could only get it from the Japanese store - but I'm struggling to get it to work.

despite the Kenji (?) charachters, the menu navigation seems dead simple, and I get to a point where I think I'm about to start the game. When I click on the "X" button to start, I get to a screen with the snow background on, music playing, and 3 or 4 lines of Kenji, and then nothing happens. from there the only way out is to press the PS button and quit.

Has anyone else come across this - I don't know anyone who reads Japanese to tell me what the error says, and I'm at work at th emo so can't post a screenshot or anything?

All my other downloads work OK, its just this one.

Ta

Dave

Feel Ski - any good?

It looks to be the same as a ski racing game from 2006. Even if it is, is it worth a punt? Think it's only a fiver.
