Shatter - Play & Help Thread

Just got this off the PSN, what an awesome game!

If you like block breaking games this is an absolute must! It's super addictive, and a brilliant take on the genre.

Can see myself staying on this for a few more hours, whilst Wipeout Fury download

Listen to the Prodigy, and try imagining what their version of a Blockbreaking game would be.

Thats Shatter

Re: Shatter - Play & Help Thread

This game is awesome. Kind of reminds me of Super Stardust although they are different genres. The soundtrack is one of the best i've heard and for £4.99 it's good value for money. A lot better than the Wipeout Fury which has not been getting much game time because of this.

Re: Shatter - Play & Help Thread

Bought this yesterday.. very good little arcade game.. gives me similar good feelings as super stardust.

Althought cant see myself playing this too much to be honest. Main draw would probably be to beat friends high scores. On that note, I think I may be missing something.. I was trying to beat a high score on the first world and I ended up with about 37 million. My friends had like 50 million. Does anyone know the best way to score big? I tried letting lots of fragments appear then sucking them.. I tried constant sucking of fragments etc.

I presume the multiplier at the end of a phase is the major points decider. I also presume that the bonus game at the end of the world can make a big difference to the score.

Dont even get me started on the top leaderboard players who have crazy amounts for 1 world (forget ful story mode scores as they are insane).. How do these players get so many points in world 1?? I tried having 4 balls out at all times to see if that helped but still ended with around 40 million.

You get a 10 Million bonus for completing the each world without losing a life. That helps a bit. I went through too about the 7th world in one go and got around 190 Million.

Re: Shatter - Play & Help Thread

I like this game, but does anyone think the repel mechanic is a little broken?

I think they should have just kept it as attract with no repel function, I spend most of the game with the repel on and you pretty much never lose a ball.

Very pretty game though and a nice little game. Would do well on the PSP or similar.

Thats the trade off to getting big points though.. as you have to keep sucking in the fragments if you want to build power / score big.

I watched my score though and couldn't see a multiplier for fragments. As far as I could tell fragments just increased your power, then you get a multiplier for using multiple balls or unleashing powershots.

I tend to keep on repel 80% of the time, then just attract when there are enough fragments are about. Seems a little too easy to me, I am not sure there are any bonuses for time?

On my first game I had to kill myself as I was going to be late for work and I was already at the end of world 3.

I still think it makes it interesting, but seems a little too easy if you abuse it.

Fragments do add to your phase multiplier, not sure if you need to suck in so many at one time to get it though. There are power ups that x2 the multiplier from fragments.

You get bonus points for:

time (quicker the better)
no lives lost (think its like 10 million)
and the bonus game at end of world.

Constant pushing is a good tactic, especially when you have many balls out. But like I said, if you want to score big you will need to pull in the fragments on a regular basis.

ooooh, thats interesting. Im trying to figure out the best way to get top score in 1 world. If that means never hitting the sides then that must be very hard to do.

Can anyone confirm how to get this bonus?
