Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

The PS1 probably has the second biggest library of games of any console (I'd imagine the PS2 has even more) yet there're are still only 40 or so PS1 games on the PSN Store, and half of them are hardly worthy "PSOne Classics". When is Sony and others going to release a few more gems from their back catalogue? Where's MGS for god's sake?!

Re: Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

MGS and Resident Evil have just been rated by the ESRB in the US so they should be appearing on the US PSN soon. I don't know if there are any plans to release them on the UK PSN.

Why no Devil Dice (Xi)? Developed with Yaroze, it must follow every Sony standard and be the easiest game ever to make available on the PS3. There's even a demo on the Hong Kong store but no full game

surely most games would be cheaper to buy by themselves on ebay rather than waiting for them to be released

I've got the US version of that although it's been quite a while since I last played it. It is a great puzzle game along with Kula World ( Roll Away in the US ) which I also have.

Re: Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

US PSN is getting Directors Cut of Resident Evil for $9.99. Great game in the build up to E3.

I'm not sure whether to buy it. I just know it's going to look almost unplayable on my 40'' LCD

Is the full game available for d/l on US store?? Not played the HK demo for a while but me and the wife was addicted to it a few months back. Would definitely pay £3 quid for it.

I'm not sure. I don't think so. I've got the original Playstation retail disc version from when I had the console..

Re: Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

Any chance of Sensible World of Soccer making it's way to the PSN?

I know it's on Xbox Live, and all the people reminiscing about it on Radio 1 over their 'Big Game Weekend' or whatever it was called have got me, well, reminiscing myself.

I'd love to play it again......

Perhaps, but my PS3 isn't backwards compatible and I disposed of my PS1 ages ago.

I really hope MGS comes to Europe, I really want to give it a second chance. I failed to see what all the big huff was about when I played it back in the day, but then again I was about 10 at the time.

All PS3's play PS1 games even current models. It's PS2 games that are limited to the older models.

Yes it will as all PS3's can play PS1 games, he's just been wrongly informed.

I wasn't wrongly informed. Alas, I'm just guilty of making hasty assumptions. According to a friend, however, a copy of MGS is extremely hard to find and will set you back anything from €50 to €200 — a sum I'm not willing to spend.

Just thought of another PS1 game I'd love to see available on the PSN Store: Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2. I wasted days playing that game and IMO the best of the series.

Re: Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

Looks like somebody from Sony or Konami is a fan of these forums, because no sooner did I ask if MGS was coming to the PSN they announce at E3 that indeed it is. I've no idea when it's out but it's likely to cost no more than €10 seeing as it's going on sell in the States for $9.99. Awesome!

Now when is Tony Hawks 2 coming out...

I'd have thought that it'll be £7.99 same as FFVII

They obviously over-looked my post on Page 1 enquiring about Sensible World of Soccer appearing - be a good chap and see if you can sort that for me would you?

Thanks

Re: Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

There's an even more accurate way of knowing what might be coming out soon... check what came out months ago on the Japanese store! MGS, RE and FF VII have been out there for a bit. To be fair I was surprised how quick they managed to get FF VII out here after Japan, but I guess they did already have it translated this time.

Re: Any more PS1 games coming to PSN?

Still no sign of MGS in Europe! What's going on Sony?

There is, however, one new addition to the PSOne Classic range available to download from this weekend. Care to guess what 32-bit classic it might be? Nope, you're wrong. It's 'A Bug's Life', a ****** video-game tie-in that can only be there to keep the kids happy. Except don't kids only like things that are new and shiny, not ****** pixelated ants?! I bet this sells less than 10 copies.

I brought Syndicate Wars when it was on special offer a little while ago. A nice little cyberpunk jaunt down memory lane, I'm working my way slowly through it.

looks like Square-enix is bringing a decent game to the Euro PSone classics.. about time we got something instead of all the disney cack that we have gotten lately.. I still have my disc copy, i would pick this up had i not.

for those behind firewalls etc.. taken from CVG

Square Enix has just outed its plan to release Vagrant Story, a seriously wicked PSone RPG, on the PS Store on December 22.

It was awesome - Famitsu gave it a perfect 40/40 score - and will certainly be well worth the €5.99 (usually £3.99 here) price. We'll let Square give you all the details:

Square Enix Ltd., the publisher of Square Enix interactive entertainment products in Europe and other PAL territories, today announces VAGRANT STORY, the classic RPG adventure originally released in 2000, will be available to download from the PlayStationStore on PlayStationNetwork across PAL territories from 22nd December 2009, priced €5.99.

The original PS one release secured immediate critical acclaim on its launch with Famitsu awarding it 40/40. Famed for its darkly compelling narrative, unique battle system, and atmospheric 3D world, VAGRANT STORY is a genuine classic.

As the VKP's (Valendia Knights of the Peace) elite Riskbreaker, Ashley Riot, you must pursue a group of cultists into a deserted city of Leá Monde in an attempt to rescue the kidnapped son of a Valendian dignitary. But all is not as it seems, and everything you once believed will soon be called into question as you contend not only with the cultists, but rival political factions, the city's restless fallen, and your own dark memories.

Larry Sparks, Vice President Brands PAL Region of Square Enix Ltd. comments, "VAGRANT STORY is one of only a handful of games to be honoured with Famitsu's highest possible score and it's a great pleasure to be releasing the game in Europe. For the first time in years VAGRANT STORY will be easily accessible to original fans and new gamers wanting to experience a true classic."

VAGRANT STORY is available in all PAL countries where the PlayStationStore is available.

Here's a list of what's currently available (Europe has the rather empty column and rough end of the stick as per usual) :-

List of PSOne Classics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here's a tiny list of what's upcoming :-

List of PSOne Classics - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I ain't a ps3 owner but an unbiased opinion as a former ps1 owner and square/sony/enix rpg import nut (i owned and completed pretty much everything they knocked out) is it's a pretty crap choice of titles really, command and conquer original, red alert and retaliation were fantastic though.

If i was to pick out a few gems for release in europe, final fantasy tactics (which i completed at least five times), legend of legia and brave fencer musashi would top my list.
