Original Star Wars game...

Would love to see a PSN version of this using the sixaxis function.

Surely it would be dirt cheap to make but i guess there would be license issues, i'm sure it would sell like hot cakes.

Which 'original star wars game' are we talking about? The arcade one?

I remember a coupel I had on the spectrum that were infuriatingly difficult Speaking of Spectrum era games, they should do a next gen Great Escape game

Wow, classic. Would you want it done just like that or a HD Remix?

Re: Original Star Wars game...

Genius idea.. Thats one of the few games that would work well with the 6-axis..

I love that game.. So many memories as a kid.. I have it on my MAME cabinet, but its just not the same with a Mouse, or worse still, joystick!!

Just like that would be fine by me! Remember spending too many lunchbreaks in the slot machine room out the back of the local video store back in the early 80's!

Same here - I used to love the old arcades. Favourite games were Star Wars, Paperboy, Tron, Robotron, Starblade, Mr Do, Mappy, Defender, and Burger Time.

Signs of a mis-spent youth I guess.

Not only did I feed these machines to excess in the arcades but I also ended up buying the conversions when they came out on the PS1, PS2, PC, etc.

I guess it might be possible to get Mame working on PS3 Linux?

Wow you mean there was another video store which had this game in a room at the back? How weird! The one I used to frequent had this and a couple of others, it was also an off licence and started to attract some odd types!

Unless you're talking about 'slots' in Sudbury Suffolk then yes, there must have been more than one!

Re: Original Star Wars game...

You all need to get yourselves one of these

After pretty growing up in the arcades from the late 70s onwards, it was Defender which really captured me.. All I ever wanted in life was my own Defender machine.. But as the years progressed, the chances of getting one in a condition worth having was deminishing.. MAME was suggested, but I totally ruled it out until a few years back when I built a games room, I figured that I needed to have one.. And have never regretted it.

3000+ retro games on tap is on thing, but if you leave Defender (or your game of choice) running, no-one would ever know that its MAME!

That's amazing. I've got Mame on most formats, but a cabinet would be cool. I've got a space now as well ever since my Andy Capp fruit machine died

I bought my 'MAME' machine pre-built from a guy in London.. I drove all the way there and it was a piece of ****, but I had bought it via Ebay so I was obligued as I never asked for pics before.

For example the button panel was painted with black gloss paint... And the display was a 10" square in the middle of the screen, even though it had a 21" monitor.

When I got it home, I decided to finish it myself and make it more respectible, but by the end of the project, I had pretty much rebuilt it from scratch...

I love it now... Its in near immaculate condition and I have seen ones like this sell for well over £1500!

I used to keep adding to it and updating the MAME versions/ROMs.. But now I am going to leave it as is, as a "finished" project!

Re: Original Star Wars game...

I vaguely remember the 3d vector graphics star wars games appearing as easter eggs in the rogue squadron games on gamecube - so I guess playing those through the wii is the closest we'll get to a playing them on a next gen console
