Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
Dunno whether to get a plasma TV or upgrade my projector to HD instead.
Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector? If so is the quality good and does it pose any problems?
Cheers

its not good - its great! Ive not encountered any problems at all with the projector ive got.
I guess the things to look out for with projectors (rather than ps3 with projectors specifically) is you need a room that can be made dark otherwise the picture can be poor (washed out). Also you will need a sound system as the projector wont (usually) have any sound capability.
But if you have a good darkened room with a decent av setup its the way togo!

Re: Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
Yup, use my projector more for gaming than my TV, it's fantastic
However there are a few things to be aware of:
1) You need a light controlled room so blackout blinds are a must
2) Dark room kinda rules out PSEye usage
3) It's hard to look at manuals/ maps in the dark
4) depending on where your projector is if you stand up for games such as Guitar Hero, bolwing game, etc. you may obscure the screen.

Wipeout HD on my 90 incher (you read that correctly ladies) is simply mind bending. It really is the only way to play now.

Re: Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
I played Mirrors Edge on my PJ in one sitting. One of the best gaming experiences EVER. Had it been Summer I would have thrown open the Patio doors to get a breeze kicking through......you know, just so it felt like I was standing on top of 30 story buildings.
three thumbs up !
If a Projectors is within your means and your lounge can accomodate then I can't recommend them enough. I can even begin to tell you how many of mates call by randomly on the weekends now.....just cos "they were in the area"

Re: Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
I thought as much guys, cheers.
I already have a Panny AE100 on a big screen with 5.1 surround etc but wondering whether to get a plasma or upgrade the PJ instead.
Small problem is having wires now showing coz everything to the Panny is chased into the walls. Never knew HD was gonna be that big 4 years or so ago when I did the room out and I detest seeing cables

Re: Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
Once you buy a projector, its hard to ever believe how you put up with a lcd or plasma.
when i bought mine i had a few mates come over, those mates now have projector themselves..

Re: Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
I think playing games on screens that size would make me puke
I once had a SD projector for my PS2, GT 3 looked fab, but any FPS just made me ill.

Re: Anyone play PS3 on a HD projector?
The only drawbacks from getting a PJ over a panel is that it's not quite as convenient to use as a TV, what with having to make the room dark, cost of replacement bulbs (but they can last ages)...
...but for the price of mine (a 1280x720 Sanyo Z3 that I bought nearly 4 years ago) I have a 120" screen compared to a 32" screen that would've cost more! 1080 PJs were crazy prices 4 years back, I don't know what they are like now, but remember that a lot of PS3 games are 720p only anyway.
And you don't need a totally dark room, maybe just get some blackout curtains that you can attach behind the curtains you already have. Read the PJ forum on here, it's where I learnt all about them to buy mine and I'm extremely happy with it.
