ps3 died sort of?

After a bit of advice, my brothers ps3 today just died playing cod. Now it will turn on but nothing comes on the screen, i did notice that the controllers dont sync to either.
He has it conected up via component, i did the screen set and tried using an av connection.

it is out of 12 months warranty, but not sure how much the ps3 has.

cheers for any help.

Funny you mension cod, everyone I've come across with a dead PS3 so far was playing cod on it at the time. Curious to know how much time he spent playing on it.

Re: ps3 died sort of?

Sometimes, if you hold down power off for too long, it reverts to 480p(?) and takes an age to get the signal through, forcing you to reset it to 1080p etc when prompted (resetting up the HDMI setup).

Re: ps3 died sort of?

Some one at my works had his PS3 go wrong, and Sony sent out another for a swop. But he wasn't aloud to swop over the hard drive, so he lost all his game saves. He was gutted.

If you can, back up any saves that you want to keep

Re: ps3 died sort of?

Can you backup all game data on the PS3? I'm curious if you can back up the additional cod4 maps that were brought seperately to the game.

I think you can re-download the maps from the playstation store free of charge if you already purchaced them.

It doesn't cost to get it replaced even out of warranty so i have no idea why you say you were charged for it, unless it was a import and not a UK model.
