Advice please: PS3 "Ratchet & Clank" problem!

Hi all - I'm a first timer, please be gentle with me

I've just bought a 160gb PS3 (for my son) which included 4 free game downloads. It took 31 hours to download the free games, all worked fine, except Ratchet & Clank - could not start game!

Trying to download R & C again now - so far after 20 hours only 47 percent loaded and screen display shows "pending/loading".

Surely this should be simple and probably much quicker.

I would imagine that was a popular offer and the servers are busy.

Otherwise , download times are going to depend on how good your own broadband connection is.

Now , concerning ratchett and clank , I know on release that game needed a firmware update ... what version of the PS3 system software are you using , are you fully up to date ?

If not , that could be the reason the game wont start.

connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable if you can for the downloads as it will be much faster.

Not necessarily, as if his internet connection is less than 10Mbps, then the wireless can handle that (its max speed is 10Mbps). If it's any faster, then your wireless will be slowing it down to 10Mbps, so yes, wire it up

Also, what problem were you having when starting the game?

I think I'm using the latest software. First used and setup/updated on Christmas day.

I have the slowest available wireless broadband connection (due to my location!) from BT. The problem we had is that after we downloaded and installed the game we tried to start it but it just locked-up and the screen went blank. We had to switch off the PS3 manually!

That is very strange. I think the only option, if this happens every time, is to delete the game from your HDD and re download it, unfortunately.
