Hey peeps,

For the vast majority of the time, posts are made to report problems, complain about minor gripes, or argue (with fanboy fanaticism) about whose console/tv/soundsystem is better.

Well I'm just posting to say how much I love my playstation!

I'm finally really content with my living room setup:

Samsung 40" M87
Onkyo 606
Kef 2005.3
PS3

My PS3 is a true entertainment hub. I use almost every feature regularly and it just feels so seamless. This is how entertainment should be.

MUSIC

cds
mp3s
internet radio
streaming from my pc in my bedroom

VIDEO/TV

DVD
Blu Ray (wow)
PlayTV addon (truly fantastic)

GAMING

I've finally made the move away from PC gaming and have become satisfied with a console.

OTHER

A very useful web browser
Picture browsing/slide-shows
PS Store (games/clips/DLC)

I wouldn't call myself a fanboy (I never bought a PS2 though I played my friends and if/when ps4 comes out I'll check it out before considering buying). but I sure am a happy customer.

Good job Sony

About time Enjoy a product without people raining down doom and gloom making it sound like your a leper for liking a console.

Enjoy your games, movies and music on your choice of console.

Long live all three.

Re: Thanks Sony

Well said indeed - I am in a very similar situation to you - just got a PS3 to move away from PC gaming and my first LCD and I absolutely love it so far - everything feels right about it. I thought I wouldn't get on with a console after owning 2 360's and a Wii, but I was so very wrong.

Just need to get used to FPS games now!

Oh and sort out my audio...

Well said anyway - I totally agree!

100% agree and mine gets used pretty much identically.

In fact if the PS4 has a built in 7.1 amp and freeviewHD then for me at least, I will only need the one box under the tv

Thats surely what they are thinking long term- it seems the natural progression of the media hub idea.

Although, I do like having 5 boxes under my TV

Re: Thanks Sony

Grr, Argh (wierd tag btw ;D) - how are you doing the internet radio? Via the browser and then going to web sites that stream this content?

Or are you streaming from PC...? Or is there someway to utilise ITunes type web radio (would like to do this).

@ RRRuss. If you are having trouble making the move from PC FPS to console - try COD4. This works because it is a "realistic" and therefore slow moving shooter.

Personally - I still don't think consoles cut it with FPS and can't do twitchers at all, but some work OK, so that is one thing that you may have some adjustment to make.

But yes, OP - the PS3 is a good bit of kit for sure. Hardware wise it is great value. Though the poor wireless is still doing my head in!

Re: Thanks Sony

I've got a similar set-up to the OP. He's got the newer models of the Amp and Speakers than me but same screen

I too just love the PS3 and if it continues to improve as well as it has so far then i may be reluctant to jump on the PS4 when it arrives and i'm normally one of those that has to have a new console on release day

Hi Silvercue,

It is indeed via the browser but I have to define what I understand by 'internet radio.' When I'm in the mood to listen to a typical radio station PlayTV has great quality and a good number of stations. If I need FM/AM I have it on the Onkyo 606. Internet radio to me means restricted on demand music. I've tried various flash based players but the one I've fallen in love with (indeed it's my browser's homepage) is a version of finetune player with an interface actually made for the wii!

Finetune Player

the featured playlists are great for some quick music in various styles but the artist search is also fantastic. You'll get a playlist made up of random songs by the artist you searched for but mostly similar artists or music. I've found and bought loads of new music because of this great feature

There are better more full featured 'internet radio' players around but this for me fills a useful gap in my music needs

Great to see someone posting the positives the PS3 brings rather than the usual posts of failures and other issues, like the OP i use my PS3 for piratically everything AV related music, movies, games, some browsing, the only thing i haven't used my PS3 for is a PVR, i'm waiting to see if a HD version of Play tv gets released that will work with the UK format of freeview HD.

Re: Thanks Sony

love my ps3 aswell, im impressed with the audio quality (not a fanboy but digital for digital both via optical on the same amp the ps3 sounds better than my other console )
the image quality seems crisp as a button and has a great colour balance for movies !
the features like audio bitmapping and pq upscaling are welcome, although i do use my pj for upscaling its nice to have.
i really like the themes and the speed at which things open, not to mention that my ps3 is below whisper quiet at all times, reading the harddisc or playing a blueray game/disc.
got used to the controller, not its strongest point compared to my other console but the new keyboard addition looks and feels a quality item, in fact every item is thoughtfully produced and looks adult and modern.

only gripe ? not enough ps store content ! needs more game demos and some real decent PS3 only stuff.

would love a game like Kameo on the ps3, or any other decent Rare game for ps3 only.

well done Sony

Try Ratchet and Clank it's a excellent game and imo beats rare games of late and looks better too.

never thought of that!

Saying that I did hear that "Ol' Captain Hook" prefers the nintendo Wii over the PS3 for some reason but "Peg leg Pete" hates it, he keeps muttering something about a Wii Fit board?

Re: Thanks Sony

Hi all
I too am very happy with my PS3. I have a U.S. 80gb system attached to an older LG 32" 1080p LCD and the picture is fabulous. I have a U.S. account and a U.K. account, I have never expierianced any problems with the system or the network. I use it as my Blue ray player and games machine. I have just started using Home and once that has developed it should be entertaining. Sony has created a superb machine for an incredible price really.
