HDMI Socket broke, trying to connect via AV lead

Hello all,

Hoping someone can help. I recently broke the pins in the HDMI port on the playstation3 console. As I can no longer put the HDMI lead in this socket I am trying to connect the PS3 to my tele using this-

Buy JOYTECH JOYTCOMP626 | Ps3 fusion component cable - Specification | Comet

I have connected all the coloured wires to the correct sockets and plugged the other end of the lead into the AV port on the PS3.

My problem is I can't seem to find the channel that the playstation is now connected to.

Above the sockets on the tv it has a logo that when I scrool to it on the remote I just find a blank screen. I've tried it on another tele and the same thing happens. I've tried every possible input on the remote that I can find but cant seem to get a picture.

If anyone can help I'd be grateful (please move if in wrong forum).

Cheers

I have messed about with the picture settings on the ps3 but it hasn't done much. I've turned it from 'big' to very very blurry!

On the picture settings on the actual playstation settings I ticked the 1080 picture boxes etc but it hasnt stopped it from being blurry.

Really strange becuase the tele is superb for pictures on normal TV

Re: HDMI Socket broke, trying to connect via AV lead

My Tele is Toshiba 37XV555DB if that helps at all.

Not sure if I need to change settings on that or the PS3 to improve the picture, I have tried a bit of both but can't seem to get rid of the blurryness.

I know it peobably wont be HDMI quality but the picture at the moment makes the first nintendo graphics look amazing!

If they are that bad, any chance you can take a pic of the problem?

Re: HDMI Socket broke, trying to connect via AV lead

I don't know it your TV supports 1080p over component,
if not it will default to the lowest resolution of your TV (576)

have you tried just ticking 720p in the PS3 settings?

Tried changing all that but the picture is crap whatever. Oh well might aswell throw the playstation in the bin. Either that or pay £180 to sony to get it fixed. No shops will do it.
