Does A PS3 Continue Downloading When In Standby?

Does A PS3 Continue Downloading When In Standby?
I finally have mine connected via Cat5 to my router & am currently downloading some freebies. Will it contine to download whilst it is turned off, i.e just in standby?

No.

However if you try to turn it off whilst downloading it should give you the option to either turn of when it is done, or turn off right now.

Pretty sure you can.

I have seen my ps3 in standby mode (red light on) but the green light also on for wifi.

Either that or my ps3 is broken lol

Not strictly in standbymode but if you have the latest firmware which you must have as your downloading. Bring the menu up and go to your user account side (far left) scroll up and you will see the shutdown options there. It will download and install before switching off if I remember correctly.

If you've remote play via a PSP enabled the green wi-fi indicator light stays on (or flashes intermittently) when in standby. Maybe this is what you're seeing?

Can this feature aswell as the USB ports being powered to charge things during standby be added in a fimware update? I hope they can and will be some time soon.

I charge my PS3 pads through my PC
Saves me having to leave the PS3 on when I'm not using it just to charge the pad up.
