Wipeout to new PS3.

This might be a silly question but bear with me. I'm buying a new PS3. I know I can back up game saves to transfer to my new PS3 but how do I get Wipeout HD to my new machine? It's a downloaded game and, as I understand it, full games can't be backed up/transfered to new machines. Or can they? I'm confused!

Re: Wipeout to new PS3.

If you sign in with the same PSN account (email and pwd etc), on the new machine then you can access the download history and download again.

Depending on the game you get so many times you can download it again. Some people exchange account details so they can download and share games.

Is there any way to check how many downloads you have left on a purchased item?

For The Last Time.

Its not per item, each Account can only have 5 PS3's registered to use its content, and those 5 PS3's can download anything purchased as many times as they like.

I have heard different things with regards to this, is this from Sony themselves? If so, thats even better then.

that's my understanding of it (system/machine activations) too. Up to 5 machines can be activated under any one psn id, then games paid for by that psn id are downloadable and playable on each of those machines.

I'm fairly sure specific PSN games forbid sharing whereas others allow it. Check the EULA - some games aren't meant to be shared.

Re: Wipeout to new PS3.

Yeah, there are games such as Warhawk where you have to be signed in to psn to play it, so it's tied to the one user...

Also Singstar is notorious for not working with game sharing. It'll only let you download to one machine i think, so if you get a new ps3, you can't download your songs to it - it doesn't even let you buy them again to redownload them!

Yep, Blast Factor is one of them - it can't be shared

Thanks for that Digitalize, I wasn't sure on that before
So is there any way to check how many PS3s have been registered with your account?

Re: Wipeout to new PS3.

I don't know of a way to check how many machines have been activated under your psn id... I guess sony assume we'll keep track of it ourselves? You'd know if you'd run out though - it wouldn't let you activate any more!
Apparently sony can clear all your activations for you if you lose track of them.

Re: Wipeout to new PS3.

I now have my new PS3 but I am unable to transfer some game saves because they are "locked'. GTA worked fine, as did LittleBigPlanet. But games such as MotorStorm Pacific Rift and Rainbow Six LV 2 won't allow me to put them on my PSP for transfer across to my new PS3.

How do people get around this problem?

Thanks.
