Buying a 2nd Hand PS3

I have some credits with CEX and was thinking about getting another PS3 for the bedroom, they have 40 gig models for about £230, but was wandering what pitfalls if any there are for buying 2nd hand, i'm not to worried about the warranty as it comes with a full 12 months, just about any other problems there maybe owning a 2nd hand machine, cheers.

CEX are right arse holes when it comes to replacing consoles. If who ever bought it first has not registerd it in his name then you can register it and Sony will cover you. But if who ever had it before you registered it then sony wont cover you.

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand PS3

The main problem I see here is that £230 for a 2nd hand PS3 is too much, you can get a new one from comet for £250. That £20 extra could save you a lot of hassle if something does go wrong.

I agree that it is expensive but i have £170 in credit to spend and thought this would be better than spending it on overpriced games.

Re: Buying a 2nd Hand PS3

I've never dealt with CEX in my life but if you have a lot of credit and they offer a 12 month guarantee you should be fine. Your 12 months is with the retailer so it doesn't matter about Sony. Retailers may say deal with Sony directly but legally its the retailer that is responsible. I'd probably be happier buying a wii from CEX as they are more reliable I gather than the 360 and ps3. Not that the ps3 is anywhere near as unreliable as the 360.
