Ps3 bluray remote discontinued?

Does anyone know if the current ps3 bluray remote is being discontinued? My wife tried to get one for christmas but all the major shops are holding no stock. comet even say its discontinued?

I've been looking for one as well! Expansys say they've got stock coming in on Jan the 13th and Sonystyle say they will be arriving soon. Surly they can't be discontinued I really want one!

I Doubt they will be discontinued, maybe theyre being revised.

After all PlayTV Comes with a sticker for it! lol.

I bought one from my local gamestation on the weekend, so they are still available. Having said that I tried at least 6 places before that without success so they are hard to come by at the moment!

I bought one today at HMV in Bristol. There were about 5 on the racks.

I would note, that I have also noticed that most online retailers to not have any stock of them, other than HMV at 34.99

My local gamestation have several preowned for a tenner. They always seem to have them in stock. Worth checking if there is a store near you.

Wouldn't it be nice if they are launching a revised one. Hopefully with play TV markings and more importantly an IR receiver built in. That would be awesome for universal remote users.

Remote controls have IR transmitters...it's the equipment the remote is operating that have the IR receivers.

I had the same problem trying to find them, they are like gold dust. Eventually ordered one from axelmusic.com for £16 hasn't arrived yet but thats due to the Xmas break.

They are like gold dust..nipped into HMV in Oxford Street and there were about 8 (nye) looked around the DVD's for a whil came back adn they had all gone..Goning to pop in there today so fingers crossed !!!!

They are giving them away as part of the bundles so have plenty in stock.

I got one when I bought a PS3 on Boxing day.

The point is that the PS3 remote is Bluetooth so having a receiver could allow for translation of IR commands to Bluetooth. I think it's very unlikely that would happen but it would be nice for all those Harmony owners.

Why does it have to be the size of a fire engine? sony remote is bigger than my plasma remote control - Which incidentally is also the size of the plasma screen .

At the mo' Hmv Trocadero have them in a bluray pack with Casino Royale & HDMI Cable for £45 or £35 with HDMI & Hellboy 1, I don't know why theres a £10 difference. Also if you buy any of the Bluray console bundles 300/Batman Begins/I Am Legend with Fifa 09 and LBP/Resistance you get a Remote too all for free.

Hmv Trocadero ARE selling remotes on their own now the Xmas period is over so you can get one for £17.99. I think there just clearing excess stock so maybe the other HMV's are doing this too.

Think they've always been fairly hard to find. When I gave up the ghost on my cheapo Logik3 one last summer I was on my 7th shop (HMV) in 2 towns that weekend before I found one.
