The Eye Toy - PS3 specific?

So I got littlebigplanet today and fancy putting my own textures into the creator section in it and need an eye toy on the cheap.

Are there new versions for the ps3 or will the ps2 one work just aswell? Thought I'd get some quick help before I hit up eBay!

Many of the thanks.

Re: The Eye Toy - PS3 specific?

The PS2's Eyetoy works fine, but if you want the pics as good as possible, then get the PS Eye, I've heard nowt but good things

Playstation eye is very good for video chatting and embarassing drunken singstar videos but there are NO good games yet.

there may not be any good Eye camera games, but there are good games that use it, such as LBP and Burnout Paradise,

Re: The Eye Toy - PS3 specific?

I saw an early promo LBP vid showing the PS3 Eye taking a pic of a texture and using it in game. I bought one for that reason! My first impression is... well... cak. The res on close images is v poor.
I am hoping someone can help me out with a story to the contrary or I have wasted £25

Re: The Eye Toy - PS3 specific?

Burnout Paradise?
How does the PSeye work or get used for that?
Read somewhere that you can download some games that use the eye.
My kids played with a friends PS2 and said he had EyeToy thingy so I've got them a PS3 (no really... OK, maybe I'll have the odd go on it ) for Xmas but am now finding out that the PS3 version seems kinda gameless atm.
Anyone able to shed light on games for the PS3 eye?

PS. I got LBP as part of the bundle and am getting Singstar Abba for the wife (no really... OK, shes recieving the package for Xmas) so I could use Eye there, but whats stopping decent games for it?

Burnout Paradise allows you to use the PSEye to take a picture for your license, and it also takes a 'snapshot' of the person on the other end of an online Takedown (so you can see just how annoyed they are with you taking them down ).

There 2 games that really use the interactivity of the PSEye are Trials of Topoq (where you move a ball through a maze by using your hands to push and cradle it) and Creature Feature (where you have to get little creatures safely through various obstacles).

Neither of which are great.

Just to add to burnout paradise it also takes a picture of the winner in ranked races or if you beat the leader times of the road rules or show time.

Didn't pick up on those as I don't think I have met those criteria.

That's the exact reason why i'm after the camera, saw it being used on BBC Click and it seemed to look and work really well but i may have to look into it some more now.
