Playstation 3 with Lcd monitor get picture --No Sound Help Please

I have a problem with connecting my PS3 .I connected it to 22 inch lcd monitor with component video .The PS3 has 5 cables 3{video}2 {sound} .
The lcd monitor , has only component video input and {input /output} sound /dvi /vga

I get picture from the component video input ,but i cannot get sound .Can i connected it via my dvd home threater system inorder to get sound ?How where to connect to get sound .Sorry i noob to this
Any suggestions to solve this problem will be appreciated.

Try connecting your audio cables into a set of external speakers to make sure you are getting sound. This will help to diagnose where the problem lies.

Thanks i get sound for the speakers on the monitor as it has input and output sound port .When connecting to pc .But beraing in mind the ps3 has 5 cables 3 for video and 2 for sound .those 2 cables are not connected .

How can i connect to the surround sound system in have .I only getting video picture no sound .Sorry i am a newbie to this

It depends if your DVD HT system allows for separate audio inputs.....if it does it will have a place where 2 phono (audio) connectors can plug in....one red one and one white one, so you would have 3 video cables running to monitor and 2 audio to HT system

However, you are probably better off getting a phono-to-3.5m (mini jack) cable that will allow you to plug in the 2 audio leads into that cable, and then plug the extra cable into the back of your monitor (I am assuming it has a 3.5mm audio in port....similar to the audio out port that you would plug headphones into etc)
