Ps3 Scart Rgb + Linux & Dvd Playback = Green!!

I cannot believe this but those of us not upgrading to HDTV got to suffer the green protection mode of the ps2 !

even in linux gentoo it shows green

I've got one of those GAME super SCART which you can switch from GAMEPLAY to DVD. Gives a sharp gaming image I know that. Anyway it's only green until you switch it back to DVD setting.

As I said back in December, if you try and playback DVDs or Blu-Ray with an RGB Scart Cable the picture has a green tint to it just like it with on the PS2.

Also, those cables with the switch allow you to play games in RGB but watch DVDs in composite and personally I would rather watch it green than composite

***! I can't believe this either! Why why why. I initially used PS3 on my computer monitor for testing out the HD of the PS3 before I go HD telly. It looked brill (motorstorm and 007 1080p).

I have temporarily put the PS3 on main 32" Sony CRT TV, and to be honest, doesn't look bad at all through RGB Scart. Moved the DVD player etc.

Just tested what you said and am astounded. We get the worst aspects of the PS2 without the emotion engine

Why would they leave that protection in when it's supposed to be a HD machine and we are using it on an inferior setting.... bizarre.
