Could someone please explain this for me. My understanding is that "uncompressed PCM" sound tracks should sound better that DD 5.1 ones. When trying to play them on my PS3 ie Casino Royal, my amp will only output a prologic sound track and I cant seem to get it output a DD track. Is this because the optical link will not take the uncompressed signal or is it something else?

It's because the optical link cannot take the full PCM signal. You can only output full HD Audio via HDMI.

just to clarify, PCM is the best thing you can get sound wise... better than DTS-HD, etc, etc...

so in the future, people will want to get HDMI receiver if possible...
