Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

Oh yeah, ANYWHERE lol

Looks like the launch was a complete joke, 90 people turned up to launch in Oz apparently and I was speaking to guy before who went to the launch night in Toys'r'us Manchester. Nine People turned up.

How long before this 'bread-bin with an ego' gets a price drop so normal people can afford it?

I was going to get one but, like many others, Sony have priced it out of the market, what I want to know is, is it worth the money?

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

hmm maybe Sony just want it to be bought by a better class of citizen ;-)

it is expensive, but i personally think its worth every penny! very easy to use, and the Blu-Ray is superb!

I would be very suprised if it was priced down this year.... maybe Xmas, but i still would not hold my breath!

Don't expect a price-cut within the next year or so.

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

I dont know you know, assuming Microsoft drop the 360 to 250 for christmas, I think it might be hard for Sony to compete unless go for a 350 price point. Ill admit its highly unlikely theyll drop the price just before christmas, when they know people will be buying them in their droves but as I say, if they want to keep a majority percentage of the market the might HAVE to.

Does anyone know of any videos of the 360 and ps3 games running side to side ?
Id be interested to see how Fight Night 3 etc compare on each machine.

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

if microsoft drop the 360 to that price and include with it

a lifetime subscription to Live
a HD-DVD player
a wireless adaptor
some kind of sound suppressing box the put it all in

- all for that price, only then will sony be remotely worried

there's a thread with a link to a site comparing screen shots for ps3 / 360 games, i must say i prefer the look of FN3 on the ps3

they won't cut the cost, they'll bring out the 20gb version which should retail around the £300-£350 mark

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

I had to laugh as I took a look on ebay about 10 minutes ago to see what ps3s are selling at and saw one, with RFOM and a blu ray dvd go for £370 including postage, bet the seller is gutted as he would have clearly made a loss on it!

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

And to think this is an AV forum where peolpe are usually more willing than most to splash the cash in order to adopt early.

I agree with the general sentiment here that although PS3 is good value on paper (ie for the hardware), Sony is pricing itself out of a large chunk of the games console market.

The question is, what % of said market is Sony willing to risk in the hope Blu Ray can achieve world domination?

This is a very important point which tends to get overlooked.

The PS3 could well end up as a more successful console than the PS2 even without selling as many if it helps to establish blu ray in the marketplace.

There is also the PSNetwork, this could also generate a lot of income for sony in a way the PS2 never could.

As far as how well the PS3 is doing, I think its performance at launch is not the time to judge it. Any comparisons between the PS3's launch and other consoles are worthless given the very different stock availability of each on. We will have a much better idea of how it is doing just after christmas this year

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

Guess they (Sony) can't win whatever they do. If there had been a shortage of consoles, like with the 360 and Wii, everyone would have been shouting "Can't they get their act together - they've had long enough to sort it out". If there are too many - then the critics say "must be rubbish, overpriced and no body wants them". Well I bought one and I like it, so there.

My view is it is not rubbish but yes expensive and a blu-ray that is not needed to inflate the price.

I think if the ps3 sold out at launch then yes it would have been succesfull but yes they would have got stick.

Oppinion now is sonys launch has went bad and it is not selling very well and to be honest sony deserve this for a few reasons.

Will it be a failure ? ... I very much doubt it and the market can switch rather swift.

Time will tell and i think christmas 2007 will be a point to look at untill then we can not say what sonys ps3`sfuture will be , at the moment nott good.

Re: Where Can I Buy A PS3 From?

I'm not into hating the PS3, Sony yes, sort of, but not the PS3. I hope it takes off and they introduce the kind of gaming experience they've promised. I also hope that pushes MS to improve upon the experience offered by the 360 which in turn will hopefully push Sony etc etc etc.

Single format gaming wouldn't be much fun.

Sorry for forgetting the Wii or the Thii or Hii or Shii. What/who are they again and what do they look like?

Sorry but:

Holland: 45,000 out of 50,000 Sold (I have no source)
UK: 165,000 - Broken record. (Keep in mind, one day, i have no idea what it is now)

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/26261/Reco...d-at-UK-launch

Italy: Sold out. (Gamefront.de)
Saudi Arabia: PS3 selling 1 console per minute at the time of writing of this article (Trust me, thats what it says). I have no idea how much they shifted.

http://www.asharqalawsat.com/details...article=411886

New Zealand: Pre-orders five times that of Wii;

http://ps3.qj.net/PS3-Pre-orders-fiv...g/49/aid/87337

Denmark: PS3's "ripped off the shelves" - translated;

http://politiken.dk/it/article270620.ece

I've heard Sweden is sold out too but i'm not sure.

Anyway, Sony puts out not enough, and fanboys rip them. They overstock, and fanboys rip them.
