Surround sound problem.

Hello guys,

I have got my amp connected to my PS3 with an optical cable but everytime I want to put my surround sound on I have to go to sound settings and change it from HDMI to optical. If I leave it as HDMI my amp doesnt work and if I leave it at optical I dont get sound through my TV. Is there any way of getting both to work without changing it everytime?

Cheers

Re: Surround sound problem.

If I understand you correctly, you want to be able to have the sound either via your TV (for late night gaming sessions perhaps?) or via your amp.

If this is the case then - no. My mate has the same problem. It seems to be either HDMI or Optical, not both.

Might be fixed in a future firmware upgrade maybe...

both will work fine together no problem. But if u turn ur amp off and try to run the sound from the tv it wont work.

I have the same problem and it would be handy to sound coming out of the tv as well ,as spank -a thon- said about late nite gaming, u dont want to have the amp blasting when the parents r in bed haha

Sound will not come from TV when you have assigned PS3 to output sound via optical.

If you run your PS3 through HDMI (video) and assign sound through this as well then you should hear sound through your TV.

Like others have said, you cannot do both at the moment though.

Re: Surround sound problem.

Thanks guys,

I hope they up-date this in the next firmware up-date. I am not that worried about my parents for late-nite gaming as they live in a different city. It would be a very impressive system if it was keeping them awake.

Cheers
