I got my PS3 but need help with my HDTV and HDMI !!

Right well my PS3 come today and i set it all up plugged a HDMI cable in to the back of my Technosonic HDTV then into the back of my PS3. So i turn my tv over to HDMI and it keeps flickering from HDMI to DVI whats going on? I have tried everything i can think of can anyone help and tell me what am doing wrong thats if i am doing anything wrong.

P.S I dunno what happened to the other thread i made the text did not load in.

have you enabled hdmi in the ps3 setup ?

I was told when I bought my HDTV to make sure that both sources are turned off at the plug when you connect the HDMI cable. Something to do with "dumping information". So I suggest that you turn both TV and PS3 off at the plug, re-plug the cable in, and then turn everything on again. That's how I did mine and haven't had any problems.

How you meanhave i enabled it ? what i do is i go to desplay settings then switch it to HDMI then the screen goes black then it starts switcing to DVI then you get a picture for 2 seconds then back to HDMI then back to DVI and i get a picture again for a second then back to HDMI and it keeps doing that.

P.S: I just have one more little problem I had a Us Ps3 and made a UK account on it and as i have a few friends on that account and like the username when i try to sign in on it on my UK PS3 it wont it says ID incorrect even thoe its right any help will be great thanks.

I phoned Sony careline about this problem (HDMI) earlier and to cut a long story short there's nothing they can do.
Because it all works on Composite there's no problem with the PS3. They said contact your TV manufacturer to see if they have a fix, if not hope a future update fixes it.

Just phoned the Woolies helpline and they say the Technosonic is not compatible with the PS3. There's no solution except take the TV back to the store for a refund.

Not if it's the same Technosonic LCD 3201. Unplugging cables and reconnecting makes no difference what so ever.

There's a few people with the same problem in the "Technosonic thread". The only work around is to cycle through the AV button on the remote and power off the TV, turn it back on and choose HDMI again.

It's going to drive me nuts as it does it when you power on, start and leave a game, even does it between every menu playing a DVD.

Hope that's some help to Technosonic owners.

Yer i found that out today its a bit annoying but i think i can live with it but if i look at it this way i could always use component cable cant i

Can you confirm step by step how you got it working?

Before I go for a refund. I've tried different leads, unplugging/plugging etc.

Well i got it working but still have the small problem of having to turn the tv off and on after i every time i want to play i might be able to live with it but i can just use component cant i that should stop the problem wont it?

P.S: I think i know a way to stop this happening what if you buy a HDMI to DVI wonder if that will stop the problem so you dont have to turn your tv off evertime you want to play a game.

I've got the same problem with the PS3 and Technosonic. I bought a component cable but the picture quality is noticably poorer. I also believe that Blu-Ray will only be high definition over HDMI due to HDCP (it will scale it down to SD).

I have the technosonic, and am using component (HDMI already in use) and it works fine (i.e. no need to turns TV off every time)

Nope it wont m8 my dad is using components on his Us ps3 and TBO the blu-ray films looks the same to what they do on my ps3 what is using HDMI so it dont scale it down.

Thanks very much m8 ill just get the GAME component for £7 if it gets a big annoying for me.

I think eventually it will only output Blu-Ray movies in Hi Def via HDMI, it will downscale on component.

Don't know whether this will help us.

Hehehe, you are very welcome.

It's a shame that you have to do this each time though, should only be the once, otherwise I can only imagine how irritated you will feel.

Of course, I am having no problems with Sony TV - HDMI - Sony PS3.
