Hello,

Anyone tried a PS3 with the lower resolution sharp p-series lcd tv? (i.e LC32P50E) ??

Just wondering how the HD content would look as the tv can only handle 960 x 540 (PAL format), even though the TV DOES have a HDMI connection...

I haven't tried the PS3 on mine but did try an upscaling DVD player and it was poo to be honest. The internal scaler is awful.

I briefly tried a samsung upscaling dvd player via componant, just out of curiosity, picture looked same as normal res. (not surprising!). picture though is superb via componant/panny dvd player.

Just hdmi is a much smaller and tidier cable and if I got a ps3, I would rather use this method.

Basically using my pal format tv, via hdmi, would games on a ps3 look better than they would from a ps2?

Yes, loads better.

Just set the PS3 to output as close to native res as possible and feed it via HDMI.
