PS2 Game-saves for use with a PS3

The prospect of buying a PS1/PS2 Memory card adapter does'nt really appeal to me for a once-off operation. Is it then theoretically possible to download PS1/PS2 game-saves from the internet and put them on the PS3?

If so, how do you do it and what websites do you use to get your saves?
