PS2 games on PS3

I have just bought a 320GB PS3 and was under the impression that my PS2 games would play on it. This isn't the case. I thought that only the 40GB machines wouldn't play PS2 games.

Any ideas on this?

Thanks

Brian

I'm sure it's only the launch consoles that play ps2 games (discs).

Not all but alot of games would play on a 60gb ps3. America had, for launch, a full ps2 inside so it was all games for them. They are the only ones that can play however you can use ps2 singstar games in any ps3, just need to start a ps3 singstar first.

If I was you I'd search out your local game store. I got a ps2 slim for £10

that's not true Gaz Sony didn't force an update to remove BC they stopped putting in the hardware required for BC when they released the other models after the 60GB launch one, come on lets not start this again

okay, honestly in the beginning of the release of the PS3 this was understandable, because I was play Gran Turismo on my PS3. However, the PS3 has been out for awhile now and there is no need to play PS2 games on the PS3.

There is if you haven't finished your games yet (or just like them and have them to play again). I'm quite happy playing PS2 games still. There are certain genres that were catered for quite well on PS2, that weren't as well on PS3 (dance/rhythm games for example)

Just buy a slim PS2 from one of those trade-in stores. They are about the size of a TicTac box now (the PS2 that is, not the trade-in stores).
