Is it kaput?

I was playing Fallout and all of a sudden the PS3 turned off and the red light just flashes. If I press the power button or flick the switch off/on on the back, I can try to start it. The light goes green and the fan starts for a second - but then the blue and yellow lights light up and then there's three beeps and the red flashing light again.

Anyone know what this is and if it can be fixed. I got the PS3 is Feb 2008 from Amazone. I'm sure I'll get no joy there, but do I have any rights because it's less than 2 years old? If it's a case of a £150 repair bill, I'm not bothering - I'll flog it on ebay and get a 250 Gb slim. I've put a 300 Gb drive in it. What should I do with that? I may shove the old 40 Gb drive back in to see if that's the problem.

Welcome to the YLOD club!

There are temporary fixes out there, but unless Sony accept this epidemic and start to take responsibility, it looks like you will be buying a new PS3 (just like I just did)
