ISP help and info for PS3 please?...

Hello

Basically where I am living at the moment, i have a phone line and broadband available, however when i am playing the PS3 online the lag is unbareable.

I do not pay for the broadband and therefore cannot ask to configure it because the person who owns it is unwilling to help me.

Now what i would like to do is get my own broadband installed, so what i would like to know is would i need to install another phone line? and what broadband package should i get to insure i get a connection that is good enough, that i can enjoy playing Modern Warfare 2 online without any problems?... preferably the cheapest most reliable one.

Any help anyone can provide will be very much appreciated.
Thanks.

If you're on a BT line then I would recommend Be Broadband. Costs us £13.50 a month for a no download limit 8MB connection (we only get 4 because of the distance to the exchange but Be can hardly be blamed for that). Have absolutely no problems with it. It's consistent & reliable. They also do a 24MB connection for a bit more money, but that depends on where you are.

I would also advise with every cell in my body against going anywhere near TalkTalk. I've never had such a troublesome service. It can't cope with multitasking so using the PC to browse, & trying to download off PSN is a giant no no. It's also a pain getting away from them as they take control of the phoneline so if you want to go elsewhere you've got to get back to BT & then end up with no Broadband for about 5 days (dial up as an interim measure but it sucks).

Thanks for the quick reply.

I will definately take a look at the Be Broadband package then.

About the line rental... at the moment there is one line being used for the other broadband in my home, would i need another line installed for my own broadband package? i presume i do? as you can tell, i'm not very knowledgable with this sort of stuff.

Once again, much appreciated.

You would indeed need another BT line installed. I've also heard good things about Be Broadband but they aren't available everywhere (I can't get them ). I use ADSL24 and have had no problems. They have the added advantage that it's only a 1 month contract so you can leave anytime unlike most which are a minimum 12 months or more! - so if they go rubbish you aren't trapped!
