PS3 - Reading Discs

I tried to think how best to do the thread title but couldnt come up with a good explanation.

My 60GB PS3 which was repaired a while ago due to the YLOD seems to have a minor problem, the Blu-Ray drive doesnt appear to work everytime, this isnt affected by which disc is in the console and if i turn the console on and off enough times it will eventually read the disc so i dont think the blu-ray drive has completely broke.

Has this happened to anyone here before? if so did you manage to fix it without getting sony to do it?
