Previously had the PS3 connected via an HDMI cable directly to the TV, and had a seperate DVD player connected to the TV (via SCART) and amp (via RCA Composite cable).

The DVD Player has now died so I'm going to only use the PS3, planning on leaving the HDMI direct to the TV but was thinking (asking for advise) can I just use an optical lead to the AMP.

Will this work, or does anybody have a better suggestion.

yes you can do it like that unless you have a amp capable of taking the audio from the hdmi.

This amp is capable of playing back a full 5.1 surround sound signal over optical, coaxial or multi-channel analogue inputs. The PS3 only has optical out of these three, so the optical is the best option to go for.

Going by how you had it connected previously though, it doesn't look like you were getting 5.1 sound on the receiver. Do you have a full 5.1 set up of speakers, or just stereo?

Ok I forgot about that, the DVD also was connected with coaxial to get the 5.1 sound.

But Cheers for the advise, got to get a optical cable now.
