Thumbs up NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

NHL 10 has a pretty tough act to follow, coming as it does after the 09 installment, which was my favourite sports game (and possibly overall game) of last year.

I think it is fair to say that all of the goodness that was there last year is still with us, but 10 brings a little polish and a little more grit (checking, fighting and boarding) to the game. And there is the new GM mode if you possibly get bored of the multitude of other options.

Only played for a couple of hours, but I can't find anything wrong with it - early freezing issues reported on the 360 seem to have been overcome by the 1.01 patch for PS3.

Highly, highly recommended. My only question is, where do they go from here?

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

I've been on the fence with this Fuggler, I love my NHL games and like you loved NHL09, I've played the demo but am undecided.

You say the freezing issues are not evident with a patch? I've read a lot of issues with freezing on both PS3 and 360.

Have you tried it online yet? If so whats it like, I'd be interested in trying to get a forum team going if I do get it.

Any comments appreciated, I'll probably buy it anyway

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

Haven't played online yet as my broadband is up and down like a fiddler's elbow at the moment, but the 360 guys seem to be having a lot of fun with it over on the dark side. If my connection holds up long enough, I'll have a go later.

Is it worth the upgrade if you've got 09? Not sure. I really like the moves on the boards and I've had no experience of the freezing at all and I'm about 10 games into the season now. I'd traded my copy of 09 a while back, so I'm pleased to have this version. It's like an old friend who has some new stories to tell.

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

Ordered the game online today, so hopefully should be here Tuesday. I'm enjoying the demo, like the first person fighting and more action around the boards.

Having trouble scoring at the moment, which is no bad thing. Looking forward to BAP mode, hopefully more people from here will buy the PS3 version. Looks like the 360 boys already have there BAP team up and running.

Got the game today, really enjoying it, as Fuggler said, it's like having an old friend round for dinner.

I'll send you both friends requests if you fancy a game.

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

I'm pretty sure this is going to be my game of the year...again!

I remember buying FIFA 09 last year a few weeks after NHL came out. Didn't play FIFA once.

I've set up a BAP team over in the clans thread if anyone is interested. I was part of last years team (Tevez) but changed my login since then!

NHL 10 BAP Team - AVF Thunder

I'll sort it out on the PS3 later tonight, but send me your invites and I can add people in.

cheers

Seconded - it's not about the winning, it's how many people we can get in the penalty box at once!

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

The after whistle bust ups are good (grabbing people by the head etc), but i've noticed you can get a minor even if the other guy doesn't fight lol.

Another problem with it is that if I do get a fight, I hit the deck pretty quickly lol

cheers

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

Hi all,

The first BAP team Hockey night is fast approaching... This tuesday (29th).
Please anyone who is interested, send me an FR (tevezusa) and I will add you to the team.

If you can get onto EASportsWorld, register on that and you can see all the team news etc.

Here's some instructions I posted on the clan thread:

Ok dudes, I've got EASportsWorld overload here...

Been having a play and all the current members of the team (4 of us) are added into the team on 'sportsworld'

I've added a scheduled team event for Tuesday, so if whoever is around could confirm their attendance on that, we'll all know who to expect for the first hockey night.

To confirm, go to 'schedule', pick tuesday, open the club event and click 'confirm attendance'

cheers!

Started a BAP career as a playmaker RW, was drafted 3rd overall by the Red Wings, after a good prospects game, I was shocked beind drafted so high.

The above are my first two goals for my AHL team, I really like both of them, especially the second which won the game in OT.

Let me know what you think.

Re: NHL 10 - Play & Help Thread

Hi folks, want to ask question, i am a big fan of NHL, NHL 10 is £40, while NHL 09 is about £17, for a first ps3 NHL game is there enough of a difference to justify £23 extra ? Remembering i havent played a previous one, would i be missing out by not having 10 ? or is 09 still good enough ?

Thanks
Paul

10 is definitely better, but if you're not interested in online, there is plenty in 09 to keep you busy.
