| Re: Dragon Age Origins or Demon's Souls
Dragon Age is also quite difficult, its also more of a hands off, management approach to battling rather than DS's gritty melee play.
The thing that puts me off about DA:O was the horrific, ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC, promo videos. Possibly the worst trailers I have ever seen for a game in my life. Set to Marilyn Mansion (of all things), it appeared to focus on cliched fantasy knock offs, look we have gore!, look we have the sex! Dreadful. Since the story is meant to be the fore of DA:O, I'm a bit wary of ploughing time into a story that is gash... regardless of how sophisticated its branching and consequence mechanics are.
The gameplay I saw without any story in it looked good though although I'm not a big fan of the hands off, KOTOR approach to battle. I hated KOTOR. Hated it. One of the few games I've traded in with utter disgust after realising that I was purely playing it because it had lightsabers. Awful story and conversation mechanic in that too. In fact, I almost passed on Mass Effect because people were selling it as KOTOR without the licence where it actually turned out to be quite good.
DA:O is certainly a PC game, apparently scales well to lower end hardware too. Head to PC above all else on that. Its the big push for "maturity" that is off putting, because it comes across like a try hard teenager.
