No. You can only store stuff in your personal backpack. This can be expanded by certain quests, up to 42 items storable.
To get around it you do the classic "Mule character" exploit which MMORPGs do - ie: make a secondary character. Start a splitscreen co-op game with yourself, load in your main character and your mule, drop items on the ground, mule picks them up, exit & save. Now said items are stored away till you want them.
But TBH it wasnt often i wanted more items than i could carry, probably the level 15-20 range when you're finding lots of stuff but havent expanded your backpack yet.

Sort of. Very Fallout 3 in appearance superficially, but more like Red Faction in gameplay. Really the best description is it is a first-person shooter Diablo. If you've ever played Diablo then that totally nails it; mid sized levels, not fully open world, with lots of looting, very light on RPG and lots of combat.

Maybe you're going into areas too hard for your level yet? Best option is to follow the early quests to start with, and if things seem too tough then run away and level up a bit.
A mate had a problem in that he was trying to play splitscreen with his wife (whos not a great gamer) and of course things are harder with two people. He was getting murdered and about to sell. He did co-op with me, and "suddenly" it was all so much easier and enjoyable

Once he got over the level 5 hump and you start getting abilities it gets easier too.
I've finished the story on singleplayer now, so i'll do some coop with mates, and try to level up to 50 for the Platinum. Quite enjoyed it, and much more fun than Fallout 3 with i found a bit boring (i liked Oblivion), although i do intend to get the GOTY edition of that sometime and finish it... So just to reiterate this is a
shooter first and foremost, and very like Diablo (do an internet search) with respect to RPG elements and item/looting.
