Cops n Robbers ... soon

Well the trophies for Cops n Robbers has now been added, so its not too far away.

Silver Trophies
Bank the Gold
Awarded for successfully delivering the Gold to your team base in an Online Cops and Robbers game.
Take down the Gold carrier
Awarded for successfully performing a Takedown on the player carrying the Gold in an Online Cops and Robbers game.
Win a game on the Cops team
Awarded for being on the winning Cops team in an Online Cops and Robbers game.
Win a game on the Robbers team
Awarded for being on the winning Robbers team in an Online Cops and Robbers game.
Win a best of five rounds game
Awarded for being on the winning team of a best of five round game of Online Cops and Robbers.

Bronze Trophies
Be the first to reach the Gold
Awarded for being the first player in an Online Cops and Robbers game to pick up the Gold.
Pick up dropped Gold
Awarded for successfully picking up the Gold once it has been dropped in an Online Cops and Robbers game.
Win a game driving the Watson R-turbo Roadster
Awarded for being on the winning team of an Online Cops and Robbers game driving the Watson R-turbo Roadster.

From the descriptions it look like an online "capture the flag, and return to base" race mode, makes me wonder how they are gonna charge for this ... afterall if you are in a lobby and the owner starts a Cops n Robbers game then what will happen? Will you be kicked for not having it? will the others get to play the game but you are left wandering around the map whilst they play?

Lets hope its released quick, as I haven't been on Burnout for ages

Initially I was really excited about this, but now it just looks like a slightly modified version of Road Rage.

At a guess the gameplay is probably, start the race from a specified position on the map, race to get to the "the gold", first player to get there will collect the gold, and then its a race back to "home location" of your team, on the way you can perform a takedown on the car(s) with the gold and take it from them ... thus meaning you have to race to a different home position. if you make it to the home with the gold then you score.

Not sure how similar that could be to road rage, but to be honest since most of Burnout is centered around takedowns (even when in a normal race) then everything can easily be linked to road rage

Actually, I hadn't thought about that, Cops and Robbers might be free. Hopefully it will be then, you've got me excited now

I know Big Surf Island won't be though, but I don't blame them, from what we've seen so far, I don't mind paying for that.

Reason I'm hoping it might be free is because of how they will sort out the online section as was pointed out earlier. If it has to be paid for, will everyone without this be booted out if the game is activated?? Guess we'll just have to wait and see!

But then thinking abut it, it'll have to be the same method they'll use when the Island comes out (or will that also be free to avoid this potential issue ?!?!?!

There are ways they could have separate servers those who have the island and those that don't.

problem is you will be forced to get it if you want to play with friends who have it which is not what i agree with, either give it for free so everyone can play or don't bother at all.

car packs are one thing they don't have that much effect on anything but the island is a big part of the overall game it's linked, i'm not against paid for DLC as long as you have a choice as to whether you want to get it or not and that it doesn't effect or divide the game in anyway, but the Island clearly will if they stick to the pay for plan.

being as the coppers and robbers is in the ingame store i doubt it will be free.

anyone know when the island is due? 2009 is too vague an answer for me!!

I bet the Cops and Robbers pack will be out this Thursday, or next Thursday at the very latest.
But I have no clue about the Island - maybe a week after Cops and Robbers, or maybe a couple of months

How much do you guys reckon it will cost?

Considering the price of the Party Pack, I think it'll cost at least that much, between £7.99 and £9.99.

Or I may be slightly too optimistic, judging by the crazy price of the Toy Cars.

I wonder if this will make an appearance in Burnout?
With integrated shotgun mounts it would have an advantage in road rage.

Not that much detail (about price/dates) but :
- "every car in paradise is now a cop car"
- police livery for each car is based on its heritage (with some nice pics to show them off)
- game mode is similar to what was described earlier (grab gold and take back to home ... takedowns galore)

They mention next week discussing some more about the cars etc, so I guess its still at least a week away from release.

I didn't think they would talk about it for so long. With the Boost Specials they didn't really say much, just put up a note on Twitter and released it.
They're really hyping this one up, hopefully it will live up to itself

But no mention of the price? I'm expecting it to be around the same as the Party Pack, around £7.99 or $9.99 on the US store.

I remember reading a supposed leak a while ago saying that the pack would be released on the 30th April (I read this about a week ago) and that the price would be 800MS points on the 360, which is the same price as the Party Pack.

The cars look good, funny how the livery is supposed to reflect where the car originates from so the UK cars have the "jam sandwich" paint scheme.

That's probably what it was.
They were planning some big wind up but in the end decided not to do it.
