Is burnout worth having for offline only?

I picked this up from Tesco today, it was an impusle buy.

Do you think the offline is worth the admission?

I think, if you include all of the DLC that is available then Burnout Paradise is one of, if not the best game on the PS3 at the moment.............very addictive. It gets tons of support from Criterion, mini racers coming up as well as a whole new island to explore.

I bought the ultimate box.

Is there any dlc I can buy on top of that or does it include everything?

I've been reading about some island map or something, what's that, is it out now?

edit:you answered above, guess it's not out yet.

You've got it Myles so I'm up for trying the online.

Re: Is burnout worth having for offline only?

100% yes.

Picked it up a few weeks ago to bump up my trophy count. Havent used it online at all but well worth the £39.99 it was a year ago, let alone the price you can get it at now.

I paid £25 in Tesco, not sure if it's cheaper online but I reckon 25 quid is a nice price.

There are some more cars now that I don't think are in the "ultimate box", including back to the future (includes hover mode!), Ghostbusters rip off cars. Defo up for some Burnout online (I'm rubbish at that too!)

Re: Is burnout worth having for offline only?

I bought it online yesterday, I think it was £27. I didn't pay too much attention as I already had about £8 in my wallet.
Quite impressed so far, I've been obliterated by other player's monster trucks constantly since then!
There seems to be a lot to pickup, so I'm sure I'll be asking questions soon enough!

Re: Is burnout worth having for offline only?

Burnout Paradise will give you a lot of game for your money Offline, however, if you ever want to unlock everything and get the ultimate in platnium cars and chrome bikes you will need to complete chalenges online as well.

Re: Is burnout worth having for offline only?

I think burnout has given my the best online experience of any game. When you get into an eight player game and are trying to coordinate each other to do challenges, I have never had so much fun (online).

Not that getting into a room with eight decent people is easy. You normally get one or two muppets that wait till you've nearly done a challenge then sod off.

I take back what I said. BO online is great fun as long as you avoid any challenges that involve barrel rolling through the fuselarge in the airfield. What a nightmare they are.

LMAO, there's a really easy technique to this - on the back wall of the airfield there is a bit of wood. Line your car up straight with the jump & reverse back untill your rear bumper touches the wall just to left of the wood. When using a decent car (i usually do it in the Touge Criterion)you can quite easily do the barrel roll from a standing start from this position.

Re: Is burnout worth having for offline only?

I went online lastnight. I love the way it seamlessly enters an online game whilst driving, I was extremely impressed.
Because I don't know what I was doing, I saw a herd of player's cars and began smashing into them etc whooping with joy...

Only after listening closely to the voice chat did I hear "Dude stop it, we're trying to line up for a challenge"!

This game is worth every penny mate . Online, and Offline. Can't believe how cheap they selling it for now. I already have it, but saw it in Blockbuster Pre-Owned; £12.99, New; £14.99! Insane! This game is just pure enjoyable fun that never ever seems to get old! Also came across this. Check it out. Burnout Paradise, with... wait for this... 3D!

Hey Stonker, Let me know when you're up for a session. I wouldn't say I'm a pro already still fairly newbieish but I think I pretty much understand the challenges now.(although I always seem to be the last to complete a challenge )

Re: Is burnout worth having for offline only?

I bought this online@ Game (£22.74 for the Ultimate Box with Quidco) mainly for offline gaming. I don't much do online gaming. The last time I played online was Top Spin on the old Xbox, and it was annoying as hell. I wish they'd have an age limit, but I guess retards come in all sizes
