It's sssurely got to be worth a punt at under £20 or less. If you like driving games i would give it a go just bear in ,mind what you have read on here about certains aspects like graphics

I know I am in the minority but I absolutely loved this game, Spa was fantastic, best racing representation on any console I have played.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview/Play & Help Thread - Part 2

Got to agree with you there Magus. I've just got this from lovefilm and think it's awesome. I've really enjoyed the Challenge part of the game, as the racing was sometimes pretty close, much more so than GT5P.

Only grumbles are over the slow loading times between menus and the awful sound effects when you get close to another racers car.

On the whole well worth a punt. I've just ordered it for under £15 on tesco.com.

...this is so true. The handling model made the circuit flow so well it's exhilarating to go around. An experience that's nigh-on unparalleled in console racing games.

Only recently started this game, loving Monza and really enjoed Spa in Grid so looking forward to getting there in this.

Not a bad game generally, although the AI is awful...

Turn the difficulty right up. Seriously, it will show some of the best A.I. moves in the business. Overall the A.I. in Ferrari Challenge is remarkably good.

Honestly? All I've seen so far as the usual "On rails" type of AI that Gran Turismo gets slated for...

I've found the AI too quick to smash into you when following you into slow corners. But generally they're some of the best I've raced against in any game.

Still really enjoying the game. Will be interesting to see how Supercar Challenge gets on, I can only see it improving on this formula though.

Really? Sounds like you're playing a completely different game. I dunno, I mean in my opinion they are worlds apart.

Also, does this have any substance?
GDN: Ferrari Challenge Downloadable Content Announced

I'm suspicious this is the case. It doesn't make sense...not at this late stage and with the team including most or all new content in to Supercar Challenge. It also has information in regards to a new patch.

EuroGamer is running the news too.

Ferrari Challenge DLC in May News // PS3 /// Eurogamer - Games Reviews, News and More

Why so late? Thing is it's includes the full Nurburgring, which I would really like.

The DLC is not the full Nordschleife Nurburgring.

Sadly its only about 5 km. Its the F1 (GP- strecke) part of the track.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview/Play & Help Thread - Part 2

Has anyone found that races at Infineon are buggy. I've run three races there, but it all goes wrong when I get into first place. For some reason the game classes me as 2nd and then puts an ever increasing amount of time between me and this phantom 1st place car... Really annoying in timed races, as they never end...

Tesco have had my game on order for 3 weeks now. Not many people seem to have in stock anymore. Any ideas?

Picked mine up in Argos for £19.59. Could be worth a shot there.

In Arcade mode I breeze through the Beginner mode, but seem to be getting
hammered in intermmediate!! Now I am not brilliant at the game but the lead car seems to be waaay ahead of everyone from the off.

Is there a way I can turn the time from 5 min. Just cannot seem to catch the
leader and the second car! Am I doing something wrong?

In the game options i think you can change the race time and the difficulty.

Best tip I can give is spend some time learning the tracks in TT mode, qualifying in pole makes the challenge series sooo much easier...

I already tried that but it does not seem to change the Arcade mode thanks anyway.

I think the game itself is great, but really wish there was an option to change the time settings to 10 min, it only seems to offer you 5min, 15min and 45min.

I have also heard that the long awaited DLC is arriving in May. Is there any truth to this?

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview/Play & Help Thread - Part 2

depends how hard up you are lol...

it's pretty good, nurburgring is the F1 track, just an extra track nothing special.

the extra cars are good, the enzo is fantastic.

gives the game some more longevity, suppose it depends how much you play the game now

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview/Play & Help Thread - Part 2

Im sorry I have not read the first 1000 odd posts, but I have a quick question.

I loved PGR3 when I had a 360, and have had a few racing games on the PS3 (Motorstorm, Burnout, GT Prologue, GRID) but am looking for something more along the lines of PGR as in handling and gameplay etc. Is Ferrari Challenge the game Im looking for or is there something else you could recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview/Play & Help Thread - Part 2

Ferrari Challenge is not really comparable to PGR in handling or gameplay but more akin to its predecessor, Ferrari Challenge on the arcades, Dreamcast then PS2. More Simulation in handling than Arcade on known race tracks rather than road tracks. It has its faults but personally it is one of my favourite racers; tough, frustrating the way the career is set out (i.e once you start a race on a Challenge mode there is no going back (restart) and will auto save at the end so very tough to unlock the trophies) and a slightly low bonnet cam view. However, the races themselves are great, the AI IMO is very good and the representation of the courses are fantastic (esp Spa)...not so much in a graphical sense (as the graphics are average comparable to GRID or GT5:P) but in the feel of the courses dips, cambers and bends. FC is an acquired taste but can be picked up for around £15 now days so worth a punt if you are into your racing games. What I will say & most people have experienced is that it is not a game that you are going to stick in the PS3 and enjoy straight away...it will take some time to learn the tracks, the cars handling and when it all clicks, the feel of the races are

Ok will try it, Tho It was a new save, deleted last save when i traded Ferrari Challenge a week after release. not played much anyway so will try again. At least there's a nice easy Trophy with the tutorial to see if that works.

EDIT - Yeah worked Thanks.

Today I won a trophy I didn't earn and later on didn't get one I should have been awarded:

Won: Circuits Maximus (complete the European Challenge with Maximum points)
Er, I didn't get maximum points. I came second in one of the Paul Ricard races.

Not yet won: Euro Racer (win a race at every European circuit)
I have now won at least two races at every European circuit.

Bought the game only yesterday so it's not a problem caused by an old save file.

Re: Ferrari Challenge - Preview/Play & Help Thread - Part 2

Hi All,

I have a couple of quick and probably quite simple questions...

I got the game a couple of days ago and have unlocked an extra car (unsure which one) but can't view or drive it... Do I have to 'buy' it...?

Also, the three standard 430s (Italy, America, Europe) all have the same vinyls. How do I start with a completely 'clean' car with no vinyls?

Thanks,

Matt
